Sugar Skull Makeup

So this is what I have so far for my costume, and I'm planning on adding a white base so I actually look like bones as well as rhinestones to embellish and assencuate. My question is, overall do you think this is a good idea. A lot of people I look up to and haven't seen in a while will be at this Halloween party and I don't want to look like a fool! Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

(There is a black/blue line framing my face in the picture, but I won't be adding that when I actually go to the party.)

I am not intending to stir any controversy by saying this (I'm sure somehow I will, anyway) but if you are attending a party with people you look up to and don't want to offend/look like a fool, you might want to look up cultural appropriation of sugar skull makeup.

I think sugar skull makeup is beautiful for the proper occasion and for the proper reason. I'm just not sure Halloween is it. But of course you are free to choose what makes you happy. I'm assuming if you're asking "if this is a good idea" you probably are already well aware of everything I've typed. If you have to ask, why risk it?

I was actually coming to express similar sentiments, but I couldn't have done it as eloquently as you have. Although it is a fun "trend" for beauty enthusiasts; for people of Mexican descent, it's their culture.
