Straight stubborn Asian lashes

HELP! I have long, straight thin, stubborn Asian lashes that CANNOT hold a curl at all. When they do curl, they don’t look natural and stick straight up because (I think?) of my monolids. Can anyone suggest something? Maybe a good non-waterproof mascara, lash curler, and growth serum too?

Re: Straight stubborn Asian lashes 😔

@MichelleEuna My lashes are kinda weird. The outer corner has some curl but the inner corner is kinda flat. I use Heronine Make Curl Keep Mascara Base as my primer after curling my lashes and it does hold a some curl.

I also remember reading a technique that some of the community ambassadors learned. You start by coating the bottom bit of your lashes with mascara, let it dry, then apply a second coat down the entire length of the lash. It’s supposed to help with curling them. I think @Mellmars1185 and @lmaster might know better than me about the technique.

Re: Straight stubborn Asian lashes 😔

@JoSometimes @Mellmars1185@lmaster Yes I’ve heard good reviews about the Heroine make curl kelp mascara base. I’ll definitely try that out! Thanks for the suggestions I hope they work

Re: Straight stubborn Asian lashes 😔

@JoSometimes @MichelleEuna Yes that is the technique! I find I get a lot of lift from the Tower 28 Beauty Mini MakeWaves Lengthening + Volumizing Mascara Jet  . The rounded outer curve of the wand helps bump up the lashes at the base with the technique you described 👌

Re: Straight stubborn Asian lashes 😔

@JoSometimes @MichelleEuna yep you nailed it! Now I still will curl my lashes with Shiseido Eyelash Curler  it's my Holy Grail before applying and I'll still curl them again after the mascara dries

Re: Straight stubborn Asian lashes 😔

@MichelleEuna @I have the same problem. I use a plastic eyelash curler I bought off Amazon that help keep my lashes curled. I also use Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara Set

Re: Straight stubborn Asian lashes 😔

@MichelleEuna I haven't tried it but the Judydoll 3D Curling Eyelash Iron Mascara has been all over my feed lately. It's super interesting (the wand is very unique) and since it's a Asian brand it might suit lash type. Isehan and Clio also make really good mascaras that focus on curling lashes.

Re: Straight stubborn Asian lashes 😔

Hi @MichelleEuna, I'm so sorry your lashes have a heck of a time holding a curl. I don't have a monolid but I understand straight (and in my case, short) Asian lashes. Waterproof mascara is usually my go to but lately I've really been enjoying Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara . I received this as part of a gratis package. It wouldn't have been something I would have tried but for that.  Here's a link to my post about the results I got from the mascara - Re: Feedback Wanted: TeamBIC’s 2023 Holi... - Page 65 - Beauty Insider Community (sephora.com). It's also available in a mini size - Hourglass Mini Unlocked™ Instant Extensions Mascara  which might be a better way to go, to see if you first like the formula.

Lash curlers that have worked well for my lashes include Shu Uemura, Shiseido Eyelash Curler , Surratt Relevee lash curler and Tower 28 MakeWaves Lash Curler.

When I've used lash serums in the past, I've found Grande Cosmetics GrandeLASH-MD Lash Enhancing Serum Mini .033 oz / 1 mL  to give me some great results when I'd use it consistently.

Re: Straight stubborn Asian lashes 😔

@itsfi @Yes I’ve heard about the Shisheido Eyelash Curler and I’m thinking about buying it. Thank you for the many recommendations! I’ll try the lash serums you’ve mentioned.
