Feedback Wanted: TeamBIC’s 2023 Holiday Gratis Thread

It’s the holiday season, BIC! ⛄❄️ This year, we gave select members a chance to unbox 10 days of Community Faves as a token of our appreciation for their participation in the Beauty Insider Community. Community Favorites are some of the most talked-about products among members, and we thought we would celebrate these tried-and-true holy grails by gifting them to some of you! 🎁

This thread is a place for those who are receiving these goodies from us to share their gratis – though this won’t be your traditional unboxing. 😉 Without giving too much away, we are highlighting 10 days’ worth of Community Faves, meaning that you’ll have 10 Sephora products to unveil across 10 days … should you choose to refrain from opening them all at once (no judgement either way 😄).

Though our recipients’ packages may take varying time to get delivered, they should all arrive before mid-December. 💙 While you’re free to begin unboxing your gratis as you wish when you receive it, we are challenging you to post photos and share your thoughts on each of the products according to the schedule below so we can all experience the unboxing magic together (starting with the gift labeled “Day 1”)! You can absolutely post product photos and reactions earlier if you like – we might just suggest hiding them behind a spoiler tab to keep the surprise alive for fellow recipients who are still on their unboxing journey. 🙏

@CookieGirl1, it’s great you’ll have an opportunity to try it now. I forget, are you a fan of tubing mascaras? They’re usually the type of mascara I go for after waterproof mascaras. Hope this Hourglass performs well for you.

@itsfi I sometimes enjoy tubing formulas for my bottom lashes but I find that they never give me enough volume for my top lashes.  I'm actually using the Thrive mascara for my bottom lashes right now and the Yves Saint Laurent Lash Clash Extreme Volume Mascara Noir for my top lashes and I don't mind using two separate formulas every day.  I'll probably just replace the Thrive mascara with the Hourglass one eventually because TBH, the Hourglass mascara didn't really do much for me when I'd tried it previously.

@itsfi Im just learning that tubing mascaras are the way to go! My hooded eyes are a menace to most mascaras after several hours of wear, it’s almost always raccoon eyes. Not with tubing mascaras, though!

Oh, that’s good to know @bakeamuffin. My eyes are hooded as well; that’s why I prefer waterproof mascara - the raccoon look is not pleasant on me 😂 I’ve also liked the staying power of tubing mascaras so that makes a lot of sense. This one from Hourglass is really nice.

I’m going to be all over the place with my posts, but here’s Day 8, the Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair!™ Deep Conditioning Hair Mask 32 oz/ 946 mL 

I also made myself an old fashioned with extra cherry syrup (red for Sephora) tonight while I was decorating the tree!

Okay, well, double annoying because the pic is on my old phone that wont let me log into

Day 8

I was excited to see the Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara # when unboxing Day 8's gratis. I think I may have tried a mini version of this at some point, but my recollection is that it was a while ago, possibly around the time this mascara was first released. I was looking forward to giving it another go and today's wear test was a good one (more details in spoiler below). These gratis treats are really something special! Thank you, @TeamBIC! 💝

Wow! Look at that length!

What it is:	Tubing mascara
Claim(s):	Lengthening & volumizing
Consistency:	Lightweight; slightly more wet than other tubing mascaras; not too thick nor too thin
Brush:	Spiky, rubber wand - flexible, can get to lashes at inner and outer corners with ease
Application:	It's easy to apply but it does take some time and effort to get the lengthening effect - this isn't the mascara to reach for if you are rushed in the mornings. It took me 3 coats to get these results and there's a bit of a learning curve to when to layer on another coat - if I waited too long, then the formula dried down and felt a slightly stiff and my lashes would clump together if I applied another coat. If I went in with another coat too soon, the previous coat would be too wet and clump up a bit. I found that if I applied an extra layer at the point where the previous one was drying down (but had not fully dried down), that gave me the best results.
Performance:	I wore the mascara for 8+ hours, mostly in front of a computer, but I went outside a couple of times, including a trip out in the rain. No smudging, flaking or raccoon eyes; the  mascara remained intact. 👍
Results:	While I didn't really notice any volumizing effect, my lashes did look noticeably longer. The finish also has a bit of a shine / gloss to it.
Buy or Bye?:	BUY 🛍 - I love the lengthening effect and staying power of this mascara ❤️ and would pick up another one when I finish this tube, though probably in the Hourglass Mini Unlocked™ Instant Extensions Mascara # because I think the shelf life of the full size will expire before I can work my way through it completely.

@itsfi Amazing results and excellent feedback. I am still trying to figure out the timing of when to reapply coats. This helps a lot. It is definitely Lengthening for me too!

I’m super impressed with the mascara @Loretta55. 😍 The rubber, bristle like wand isn’t my favorite but it does work well for these results. I may experiment a bit and see what if any changes in the results occur with a different wand.

@Sunnysmom, thank you; I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. Takes a little more time and effort but I've never seen my lashes look that way, unless I've had falsies applied. 💗
