Help! Eye Looks 4 a Beginner

Hi Everyone! 

I never wear eyeshadow and only wear eyeliner, but I want to learn the basics and put together some beautiful looks this summer! What are 2 - 6 simple steps for a long lasting beautiful eye look?

Play, play and play @izzydoj ... You can and should watch tutorials and ask MUAs/BAs, but the real fun begins when you DIY. I like all the pics you've posted, did you try seeing if the image links to a tutorial? That's a really good place to start.  You can still get points for a beauty service until 5/28/25 as part of the current beauty chains.  You could book a feature focus with one of your looks and ask for tips and tricks and then practice.

It depends on what you wanna do...

Primer? Yes, most of the time

Primer usually extends the wear, but sometimes you can get away without it.   I feel for eyeshadow sticks, liner looks, you can sometimes skip that.

Occasionally I will use an old Sephora Collection eye pencil or Danessa Myricks Beauty Colorfix - Multi-Use Eye, Cheek & Lip Waterproof Liquid Pigment Chocolate (ignore the shade) and occasionally setting powder.  Concealer works for priming like, too, but I think it looks heavy on me personally.

Liquid or Powder? BOTH

I have almond eyes, so while not fully hooded, I feel like liquid shadows crease more for me in certain shades, but that doesn't make them a no!  Usually I will set them with powder.  I really like VIOLETTE_FR YEUX PAINT Liquid Eyeshadow & Eyeliner Violette Sauvage (ignore the shade), and the aforementioned color fix, hey Danessa Myricks Beauty Twin Flames Liquid Eyeshadow are also fantastic... Easy one and done looks with a nice shift

Powders are my preferred, but definitely need a primer most of the time with those

Setting Spray? Depends

Usually not necessary, however using a spray to boost a shade or glitter is encouraged.  Mac Fix+ is your girl for that, but even water can do.

👁Liquid or powder eyeshadow? Powder shadow in one shade to start then can build to more colors. 

👁Setting spray? Yes if you want the makeup to last longer

Hi @SportyGirly125 thank you for your suggestions !! I actually have gotten a beauty service before when my cousin worked at Sephora however it was a couple years ago so I don’t remember what products they used but maybe I’ll treat myself this year and get one! 

What brand(s) of primer do you use?

@izzydoj @For eye primer I use MAC prep and prime 24 hour eye base.

@izzydoj  Beautiful inspo pics! Depending on longevity if I need my makeup to last longer I use a primer. You can also use a combo of both liquid and powder shadows. Depending on what you have at home. I usually use a powder and I add a shimmer stick shadow to my brow bone. I don’t normally use a setting spray but you can if you want to melt everything together. Also will help it last longer. Sephora collection has some nice eyeshadow sets SEPHORA COLLECTION Mini Mix Eyeshadow Palette Beyond Brown is a nice place to start. You can achieve most looks with a set that has a few colours. tarte glamazon™ to-go eyeshadow palette this is another great palette. YouTube is also. Great place to look. There are so many videos to give tips and tricks and you can follow along. And practice makes perfect!! Good luck!
