Eyeshadow

Hello I had a question regarding eyeshadow and whats the best thing to do when you want your eyeshadow to last all day long!

So I am aware that you can use eyeshadow primer or concealer before putting on eyeshadow. So I've been using my concealer but I notice after 4 or more hours my eyeshadow fades and starts to crease/fall off. So I have the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer.

I know more layers tend to cake and crease more easily - so  can I apply concealer and then the eyeshadow primer after? Or just apply the eyeshadow primer. Or maybe does it not matter? I just wanted to know what I could do to have the best outcome for my eyeshadow.

Thanks!

Re: Eyeshadow

@ADRl  For me I tried many different primers, and I have to say some are better then others. I use the MAC paintpottery, and have to say its been amazing, my eyeshadow lasts all day and night...even after a long night of being out.

What I do is I use my nyx concealer on my under eyes and lids and blend it in. After that I put my elf eyeshadow primer (which is the bomb, I absolutely love it) over top of it. I then apply my eyeshadow as normal before spraying it with my elf setting spray. Doing this my Anastasia Beverly Hills shadows (subculture included) blend like a charm and stay all day without any fallout or creasing.

RE: Eyeshadow

A great tip is to use a setting spray after applying the eyeshadow. This can help seal it from the top. The reason a primer is only so good is because it can only hold down the bottom layers of shadow that are touching it. Once you start to layer more shadow those layers are basically now only resting on another layer of eyeshadow below. This makes fall off easy. To finish an really make it stay put a light spritz if setting spray over the face can really help eyeshadow stay put! Some great choices are Urban Decay ‘All Nighter Setting Spray’ , Makeup Forever ‘Mist and Fix’ ... these are traditional setting sprays that get the job done!! Hope this helps ☺️ 🌟🌟

Re: Eyeshadow

Hey @ADRl

I always get creases in my lids until I discovered Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighting & Concealing Eyebrow Pro Pencil Base 1

Sadly, I've lost mine, but it does a job like none other. Warm it up on the back of your hand and rub onto lids, smooth with a dense brush or your fingers. Also, application of shadow is important. Choose a good quality and avoid creams. Blend, blend, blend, my friend.

Re: Eyeshadow

@ADRl for me I put my face primer on then foundation then concealer then set my face with powder and then put eye primer on my eyelids.

Re: Eyeshadow

I'd do either concealer and set with powder or an eye shadow primer. If you're using an eye shadow primer the concealer is an unnecessary step. I used to really love Mac paint pot but I find now it's not giving me the longevity I want- so I'm on the hunt for something new too.

RE: Eyeshadow

I’ve tried concealer then set with a translucent powder, then apply my eyeshadow. It helps to avoid the creasing.

RE: Eyeshadow

It happens with all eyeshadows! But I do notice I have oily eyelids!

Re: Eyeshadow

Remember to let layers dry down in between. Setting spray will also help set everything.

Re: Eyeshadow

@ADRl noticed you mention oily lids. Blot them first with a tissue, blot paper or a dusting of powder to soak up the oil.
