Kat Von D's eyeline in Trooper has always been my go-to. It's the perfect matte black, the tip is easy to use and it's so long lasting (albeit you should use an eye shadow primer underneath it). I'm not sure about a good tutorial on how to apply - the only one I've really seen is Tati Westbrook's (GlamLifeGuru) but her's was good enough that it helped my application.
