Oh, interesting- Iโve never had them draw a dot, but, yeah, that may be a different technique. Usually, they use a little ruler. So, if the PD is off, like if the glasses slip down your nose, it can change the vision correction. When you get your other ones, if the vision is different for you (perhaps if the glasses have those little silicone nose grip pads that determine where the glasses will sit on your nose), then that could tell you that the PD may be an issue on the ones youโre currently wearing (this has totally happened to me before). Iโve also bought glasses to find out, to my dismay, that the new prescription just wasnโt comfortable for me, so now I only Buy one pair at a time to avoid spending money on glasses I wont Wear (I have 2 pairs from my prior rx, practically new and unused just because the rx wasnโt quite right). @darlyndar Hopefully, youโll simply end up comfortable with the vision correction on these, though.
That makes complete sense @ClassicallyFab. Iโve been home most of the day and wearing them as much as I can. It does feel a tiny bit more comfortable. The other pair have the adjustable nose piece and the lense is much bigger. I do hope those work out as well and I didnโt just waste a boat load of money. ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ I definitely canโt drive with them on yet and thatโs the number one reason why I got them!
Most places, if youโre dissatisfied, thereโs something they can do. I just Checked, and thereโs a 90 day guarantee at Target๐, so thatโs sweet! @darlyndar
I love these glasses on you @darlyndar ๐๐ it took me a couple of days to get used to mine glasses than I was good ๐
I find that wearing glasses lets me get away with wearing more intense eye looks than I would most likely not be able to get away with for work otherwise. I bought my current pair from See Eyewear (they have a website and some boutiques across the US) and I have received more compliments on these than on any other item of clothing I own. I highly recommend this brand, these have endured 3 years of daily wear on me. I need a replacement but haven't settled on something yet. I've tried frames from Warby Parker and they were ok just not exactly what I want.
The one thing I don't like about glasses is the wearing off of makeup on the nose. It's inevitable.
These are pretty old, I usually take pictures without my glasses to show off my eyeshadows on the What are you wearing thread. I love these glasses.
If anybody would like to look at a cool website for eyeglasses THEO.BE dot com. The eyeglasses are expensive but definitely a statement piece. I use my flex spending for these. Frames run approximately $700.00 and my prescription for lenses is about the same. I have two pairs from the Eyewitness Belgium collection. One pair is red with a black lace pattern and the other pair is fuschia/plum. Both styles have been discontinued. The eyewear trade show is next week and my optician told me that he could show me photos of their new collection in a couple of weeks.
Wow, I don't know if I can bring myself to spring for a pair of these, but the collections are amazing! I can't believe I found a pair of chartreuse-yellow frames I'm in love with.
(Ok I kinda can ๐)
@fieldsofclover What model is the pair that you like? I finally found a photo of the plum/fuschia pair. Look under Eyewitness Belgium Collection and it is UD284.
@Loretta55The Alter 303's were what I was looking at. I don't know if I'm ready for these, but I am way overdue for new glasses... ๐ค
@fieldsofclover These would look absolutely AMAZING on you! They fit your style to the tee! Theyโre so much fun.
@darlyndar I've had black for so long! I'm starting to think cobalt blue might be fun... I should just go to Costco tomorrow and see what there is. I'm like two years overdue ๐คช
@fieldsofclover Ugh! Cobalt blue would look amazing as well! Next year Iโm definitely going to Costco. I had a great experience with Target Optical but hear that Costco has great deals. Iโm eyeing a pair of Tom Ford tortoise shell glasses. Iโm quite obsessed but canโt justify $410 just for frames. Well...I can. But I donโt want to! lol
@fieldsofclover We doooo! We would have way too much fun. And....we can justify our spending! Business write-off. Lol
@fieldsofclover I believe my optician carries Alter 303. I need to visit him again to see photos of the latest collection.
I have not purchased a new pair in almost 3 years @fieldsofclove. I use my flex spending account for my eyeglass purchases. It is an interesting website.
Ok this thread is best thread. I've literally worn glasses every day of my life since the third grade. I don't actually know how to do non-glasses makeup on myself!
@fieldsofclover You donโt ever wear contacts? Though I couldnโt imagine you without glasses either. You make them look so good! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
@darlyndar I tried them, but it was back when disposables were super expensive and I was (am) too lazy for the whole "take out and clean every single night" routine.
They're also so much a part of my persona now that no one recognizes me without them... if I got Lasik I'd probably need to do like Drew Carey and get a dummy pair just for looks ๐ค
I wore contact lenses for approximately 35 years. I started wearing disposable lenses about 20 years ago. Eight years ago I had money left in my flex spending account and I knew that my eyeglass prescription had changed. I changed the prescription on two pair of eyeglasses. When I tried a pair of the glasses on it felt like my vision became crystal clear. I felt like my vision was no longer clear when I wore contact lenses.
BTW @fieldsofclover my coworker got lasik and she told me that it only lasted 10 years. She is back to wearing glasses.
