best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

I have a few people saying that drunk elephant is best in their moisturizer whipped cream and night cream especially which I appreciate all of you. But can you let me know if it's better than the Estee Lauder night repair serum? (I have dry skin and acne/blemishes).... sometimes very flaky.

I was thinking about this skincare routine:

1. Makeup remover balm (if I have makeup on)

1. Greek yogurt cleanser

2. Glam glow supermud clearing treatment

3. Serum: drunk elephant night serum or estee lauder night repair serum

4. Moisturizer: belief moisturizing bomb

5. Drunk elephant Marula facial oil (needed?)

            and ?

1. Drunk elephant facial (once a week)  2. facial oil

I love the Estée Lauder night repair serum!!!

Can you tell me the goodies about it!! 🙂

Thanks!

Hey girl! I think we have similar-ish skin. I consider mine to be acne prone and a bit dehydrated. I personally would suggest only patting oil over your moisturizer if you're crazy dry, because it could break you out. I also wanted to agree that I think the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro cream is great for acne prone, yet dehydrated skin. It doesn't break me out at all and my face never looks greasy. For the day, I use their B-Hydra Gel under makeup as my moisturizer, though because its a bit lighter.

Also- the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm is a great makeup remover, too. You basically only need to do one swipe of your face!

The UFO oily by Sunday Riley would be a great match for your skin type.

Re: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

so better than estee lauder night repair and drunk elephant?

Also, for eye cream like under eye dark circles etc.... do you reccomend: OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Crème  or  Shiseido White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream

Re: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

No. You’re comparing a facial oil (UFO) to serums. They do different things in a skincare routine.

Re: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

Oh! So what would be the difference between the oil versions such as UFO or Luna night oil and drunk elephant night serum or estee lauder night repair serum?

Which is more effective for dry skin, some acne (not severe), and anti-aging?

Sorry for so many questions 😞

Thanks!

Personally if I were you, (if I had your skin type) I’d go with the Drunk Elephant serum out of all of these and ditch the Glam Glow from your planned routine. The glycolic acid will help with chemical exfoliation to combat dryness and turnover your skin to prevent breakouts. If you’ve never used a chemical exfoliant before make sure you test to see whether you react to this and introduce it SLOWLY or your skin may be irritated.

UFO is targeted at oilier skin. You don’t have that.

Luna is an OK product in my opinion. If you want a retinol to help with cell turnover I’d go with an actual retinol serum and not a retinoid in an oil.

I can’t see the ingredients list for the Estée Lauder Night repair nor have I used it so I can’t comment on that.

Get samples of of everything to try out before you decide. That would be a better option than doing a paper exercise. You can’t build a good skincare routine just with looking at popular products. You need to find products that work for you.

yes! totally agree..... One last question, if I were to try an oil for the very last step in my skincare routine morning and night, would it be better for me to try out the Drunk Elephant Marula oil then? Helpful or nah, don't need it?

Thanks! 🙂

I always say this: I believe ALL skin types can benefit from a facial oil as long as it's the right type for your skin. I use an oil in the daytime and nighttime myself and I have combo normal/oily skin.

Be careful of trying out too many products at once, it'll be hard to narrow down what's causing a reaction if you do get one.

RE: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

@Feershta I did use the Estée Lauder serum in the past, actually a couple of serums from that brand. now I’m using the one from Drunk Elephant and honestly for me there is not comparison. The serum from Drunk Elephant is amazing! I have dry/ sensitive skin and for me is worth every penny. I really recommend it. How often do you use the mud clearing treatment? When I used that for a couple of times I found that is was doing more harm than good and I’ll never use it again, I’ll stay away from Glamglow ( just a personal choice). As for the Lala retro again it is great and that’s how I got rid of my dry patches. When the weather is super dry I occasionally mix a drop of marula oil at nighttime (I don’t buy the full size for the oil, just the mini) with my moisturizer and it works wonders. Now my skincare routine products are only from Drunk Elephant and I couldn’t be happier with my skin. They are pricey but it is worth it.

Re: RE: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

as I replied to someone just now:

I am dry around the mouth and on the cheeks. As far as the GlamGlow, I just happen to watch a video for dry skin on Sephora page and that's how I got the idea and wrote myself a routine with the popular brands and that's another reason I am in between drunk elephant night serum or estee lauder night repair serum.

I will try the drunk elephant serum although their whipped cream moisturizer made me more dry and was no help.... That's why I am going for Murad Ultimate or Belief moisturizing bomb....

What do you think? 🙂

Re: RE: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

I understand you. As for the benefits the Murad one has nice ingredients. The only con, if I can give my honest opinion is the packaging. I have tried some products from the brand, but always in tube package. I Hope those products work for you 🙂

Re: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

@Feershta Can’t comment on the serum but how often do you plan to use the Supermud? Every day? Every week?

I’m apprehensive of Glam Glow products in general and think skin is better off without them, but that’s just my opinion. I’ve tried many foils of their line and have yet to be impressed. It’s just a bunch of either harsh or ordinary ingredients and fragrance thrown into a fancy looking jar. It’ll probably make your already dry skin worse, even if you do need a clearing treatment. You may find that addressing the dryness will help with the acne.

Is is there a reason you chose a mask rather than a serum with acid ingredients in the mask (like a glycolic serum or salicylic acid)?

and where are you dry exactly and where do you breakout? Does the breakout areas feel oily at all or is it just dry? What kind of breakouts (pus filled, red bumps, here and there or in clusters?)

Re: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

Ok, I still can’t help with your routine if you don’t answer my other questions 🙂

keep in mind popular does does not mean good quality or effective.

Which Drunk Elephant serum? The Framboos one? If so, that one has exfoliating acids and I would highly recommend you ditch the Glam Glow if you use the Drunk elephant, otherwise you could make your skin dry and irritated.

RE: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

As pricey as drunk elephant is.. it's amazing! I have dry skin as well plus some texture, and the night serum has worked wonders

Re: best night serum for dry and acne skin? also, look over my skincare plan - good?

For myself i have extremely dry, and sensitive skin but over the past couple months the products i have been using have solved, dry skin, and any acne i get.

I use dove soap, and then put cera ve lotion for extremely dry skin. Next i usually use Rocky Mountain soap co - restorative face serum. They have different types depending on what youre looking to be done, ive used all, and they all work amazing. I know rocky mountain co has other face products that really help with acne, i cant name them off the top of my head, but i suggest you go check out their website, its really helped me!

@Feershta Have you looked at Sunday Riley at all? The UFO oil or Luna oil and Good Genes May be something you would like.

I am not so sure if I should go with that combo since I don't have severe acne, only noticeable underneath my skin and gets covered with makeup without showing. I have dry skin and redness mostly.... looking for a good serum (drunk elephant night, estee lauder night repair, buffet, or the vitamin c serum orange bottle-forgot the name), moisturizer (lala retro drunk elephant-i have at home and made me more drier I think or belief true moisturizing), and oil if needed as a last step in my skincare routine (Luna or drunk elephant) since I have the cleanser, etc. 😕
