I can see why people like that type of moisturizer honestly. Thick barrier creams with ingredients like colloidal oatmeal, ceramides, glycerin, shea butter, and panthenol can make a huge difference when skin is genuinely dry or irritated.

Another one is how your skin responds to actives you previously couldn't tolerate. A strengthened barrier handles retinol and acids significantly better than a compromised one.

@birdy160 Aestura, Beauty of Joseon, Sincerely Yours, Evereden, The Ordinary, and the Inkey List are great brands to start off with. You just need a cleanser, moisturizer and spf. Nothing else really for young skin.

@xrileyjadex Sharing an advice or opinion to help you look on products, the pilling issue under makeup is almost always a layering compatibility problem rather than the moisturizer itself being bad, so what tends to work well for dry skin under makeup is looking for a moisturizer that leans on humectants like glycerin or hyaluronic acid combined with a lighter occlusive like squalane rather than heavy waxes or silicones, since that combination hydrates without leaving a residue that fights with foundation. For the under eye specifically, a separate eye cream with a thinner consistency and peptides for the delicate skin there is worth using before your main moisturizer since that area needs a different texture and ingredient profile than the rest of the face.
