Vit C for Dry/Sensitive Skin

I've been using the The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% Serum with Pure L-Ascorbic Acid 1 oz/ 30 mL. It's great and it works, but putting it on is uncomfortable. It burns a little and causes some temporary irritation (like it warns on the info page) and the grit that's in it doesn't feel that great when putting it on. I also mix it with other serums to lessen the effect but I'm still not a huge fan of it.

Does anyone use something that gets the same great results but without the initial uncomfortable feeling when putting it on? Has anyone tried The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone 1 oz/ 30 mL and found it works the same but is less irritating? On the information page, it says that people can switch to that one if they don't like the gritty feeling.

Re: Vit C for Dry/Sensitive Skin

Hi @EmzJQ! You could always give it a try and see how it goes. If there’s a Sephora near you, try testing some on your skin and walk around for a few minutes to see if there’s any reaction. I know vitamin C is a finicky ingredient. From what I’ve read, some say to avoid it if your skin is sensitive while others say it’s fine, though maybe at lower concentration. It could also be one of the other ingredients in the formula.

I just started using SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum. I can’t wholeheartedly recommend it yet since it’s new to me, but it hasn’t caused my skin to freak out. I have eczema, which makes my skin particularly sensitive.

Re: Vit C for Dry/Sensitive Skin

Not every ingredient works for everyone @EmzJQ Vitamin C can be tricky. If something burns or stings I wouldn't use it again. I have sensitive skin and there are products out there, that just aren't made for me.

Now my sensitive skin liked this Vitamin C. But I never use it at the same time as acids or toner or anything to active or my face will feel the burn. #TULA Skincare Brightening Treatment Drops Triple Vitamin C Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL

@EmzJQ I rec #the Inkey list 15% Vitamin C...idk why I can't tag it.

Re: Vit C for Dry/Sensitive Skin

I tried a Vitamin C serum before from Khiels, and my face itched, kept getting hot etc.

Vitamin C is said to brighten the skin, but with all this discomfort it cant be good, not for everyone.

I have a very sensitive super reactive skin because my skin barrier is damaged, so many things that are said to be good for the skin dont work for me.

Hi internet stranger!

Some ingredients aren’t for everyone, maybe Vitamin C reacts in a negative way with your skin? I’d talk to a dermatologist if applying a certain ingredient causes discomfort. Don’t try to punish your face into accepting certain ingredients. Your face is beautiful! Work with it, not against it.
