DRY FLAKEY SKIN - HELP

So I was thinking my face was overly oily because I was having a horrendous time trying to get my makeup to stay on my face. Then out of no where I developed this dry patch around my nose- morning I used has helped at all. Help!!

Sorry for the close up ๐Ÿ˜…

Re: DRY FLAKEY SKIN - HELP

Hi @anabanana20 ! What products do you use in your skincare routine? You could be having a bad reaction to something. Have you added any new items lately?

Do you exfoliate a lot? Itโ€™s easy to over-exfoliate yourself into flaky patches, especially if you use an AHA exfoliant thatโ€™s too strong for your skin to tolerate. I have mostly-dry combo skin and regularly exfoliate with both BHA and AHA, but last month I gave myself a burn when I accidentally brought my 10% AHA exfoliant up onto one of my delicate undereyes. (I usually keep it off that area of my face, but I was half awake that night.) I had a sore flaky patch there for a week. ๐Ÿ˜ž

When I get dry patches that are also red and painful, I spot treat them with a moisturizing facial oil that can calm inflammation. The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL and HERBIVORE - Emerald CBD + Adaptogens Deep Moisture Glow Oil are both good for that. I also like e.l.f. Nourishing Facial Oil for that: itโ€™s a blend that contains rose hip oil. If I plan to cover the sore dry patch with makeup, or itโ€™s close enough to my eye that itโ€™ll get wet if my eyes water (salty tears on inflamed skin is not fun), Iโ€™ll also cover the patch with an occlusive like plain olโ€™ Aquaphor Ointment. This protects it and promotes healing.

If your dry patch persists, you might want to see a dermatologist (if you can), in case your dry patch is actually a skin condition like eczema or a case of contact dermatitis.
