[[UPDATE 1/6/23: Please join us in welcoming a another new-to-Sephora Black-Owned Brand, Ami Colé! Founder Diarrha N’Diaye sought to fill a gap in the makeup space by creating complexion products suited for melanin-rich skin. Created with this in mind, Ami Colé products celebrate deeper skin tones and are good for your skin with nourishing ingredients that are Clean at Sephora. Shout out to @NatashaTendai, @Nenepink, @meghan504, @TamaraJMorris, @JleeWins, @ZooLife, @YANZTHEFIRST, @tjm1992, and @Kiatch, who had all mentioned the brand previously in this thread! Learn more about the brand and browse the products on our Black-Owned-Beauty Guide, and read the latest updates on the steps Sephora is taking to champion diversity and inclusion beyond the 15 Percent Pledge: https://www.inside-sephora.com/en/usa/diversity-equity-inclusion]]
We recognize how important it is to represent Black businesses and communities, and we must do better.
You may have seen in Summer 2020 that Sephora partnered with designer Aurora James to take the 15% Pledge. The 15% Pledge is James’ nonprofit calling on retailers (like Sephora) to dedicate 15% of shelf space to Black-owned brands. Why 15%? As explained on the 15% Pledge website, “Black people in the U.S. make up nearly 15% of the population. So, we are calling on major retailers to commit a minimum of 15% of their shelf to Black-owned businesses.” We are so excited to be the first retailer to take the pledge and are looking forward to seeing others join us in the 15% Pledge. Next, we want to hear from you!*
Which Black-owned beauty and wellness brands do you want to see at Sephora? Be sure to let us know your favorite product(s), what makes this brand unique, etc.
Thank you in advance for your guidance and support. We look forward to learning from you!
*We will not be able to guarantee these brands join our Sephora brand roster, but we value your expertise as individual beauty lovers who shop outside of Sephora and our brands. Black-owned brands interested in partnering with Sephora can apply through RangeMe.

@danielledanielle@pringels Ah, I forgot about UOMA by Sharon C. Walmart might also still carry some of those products. I also forgot Coloured Raine. 🤦♀️ They’ve got some pigmented palettes. I still have most of their Vivids single-pan shadows, which are now available in a palette.

@gabgang, ehhh... you could use a contour, but I wouldn't. It wouldn't give the right tone, contour is usually grey for creating a shadow. (Also, you can contour with bronzer and blush on that note.) Danessa Myricks has a deep bronzer, it's slightly warm, but not too orange. The shade range is limited, there's just 3. Danessa Myricks Beauty Power Bronzer Cream Bronzer . Rare beauty also has a few deep Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Sticks Fenty has great bronzers for deep tones, as well as LYS. The cream bronzers in fenty are a little cooler toned than the bronzers IMO, but I like the powder ones better. They hard pan, but I didn't find it to be a problem problem, just an minor annoyance

It's so frustrating when you can't find a foundation and concealer in your shade, especially if you're skin tone is Venta Black (I got it scientifically proven) and looking for a specific color like Venta Black. Finding the right foundation and concealer can be a real challenge, especially when you have a unique shade like Venta Black. The beauty industry has made progress in being more inclusive, but there are still limitations. Some brands may not offer a wide range of shades, making it difficult to find a match for deeper skin tones. However, many brands are expanding their shade ranges to cater to a more diverse customer base. Availability is another factor to consider. Depending on where you live, certain brands or specific shades may not be easily accessible in local stores. Online shopping can be a great option to explore a wider range of products and find options that may not be available in your area. Don't be afraid to explore different platforms and websites to find the shade you're looking for. Undertones also play a crucial role in finding the right foundation and concealer. Skin undertones, whether warm, cool, or neutral, can affect how a product looks on your skin. It's important to consider your undertone when selecting a shade. Understanding your undertone can help you narrow down the options and find a better match for your complexion. Lastly, it's important to remember that finding the perfect foundation and concealer often involves some trial and error. Don't be discouraged if it takes a few tries to find your ideal match. Many brands offer samples or testers that you can try before committing to a full-size product. Additionally, seeking advice from beauty experts or makeup artists can provide personalized recommendations based on your specific needs. I hope this helps shed some light on why it can be challenging to find the right foundation and concealer in your shade, Venta Black. Remember, you're not alone in this search, and with a little patience and exploration, you'll find the perfect match for your beautiful skin! #ventablackisacolortoo #letsnormalizethis!
