The Deeper Hues Thread (Swatches, Color Matching, etc.)

*new group located here: Deeper Shades

Have a deeper hue and want to know how a product might look on your skin tone?  This is the place for you!

Image result for shades of brown

Several ladies expressed interest in having a BIC group dedicated to WOC.  Such a group would serve as a central reference point for swatches, color matching and the like, which can often be difficult to find.  While I have no idea whether such a group will ever be created I figured it would be nice to at least have a thread.

It should go without saying, but  **Ladies (and gents) of all hues are more than welcome **

@HazelEyedQueen I have not, maybe Ill give that a try. I dont typically like a bright highlight but maybe that would bring that pink shine through

Have you tried the Fenty line of match sticks for highlighting?

Re: Have you tried the Fenty line of match sticks for highlig...

@HazelEyedQueen I have not, they seemed a bit blush-like to me? Well the pink ones anyway. I've seen gorgeous pink highlights on medium/deeper skin tones online but when I try it I just never get the same result

Re: Have you tried the Fenty line of match sticks for highlig...

@njattana if you are able to go in store I recommend playing around with them, they may surprise you.

Here are swatches I have of them from when they released last Fall (no flash) .

I decided to pass this time too @KNC24. This pack looks appealing. It's soet of a repeat from last year. I loved the one from last year. There was a good range of deeper foundation shades. I know this year the samples have been a let down for our hue. My issie was ingredients that were sensitive to my skin. Those products that were lighter gave me a starting point on where to go up.

😂😂😂 Always a pass, sadly 😐

I was JUST about to post about that. Seriously. I really feel like darker tones are STILL excluded from many makeup lines. But it's worse that, when samples are shared, we're forgotten there too. I'm going to have to post separately. I have questions. i need Sephora to step up.

The Deeper Hues Thread (Swatches, Color Matching, etc.)

Hey Loves! I was out of town and always have to find a Sephora store. I visited a Sephora inside JCPenney that carried the brand Black Up. I'm kicking myself that I did not take a picture of the display, if allowed. I loved all the shades of color between the vibrant lip colors and highlighters. Naturally the collorboration highlighters were sold out. I have wanted a tinted moisturizer so I bought one. It promises to mattify so I was game. I've worn it all day without any touch ups. I also have on Laura Mercier Medium Deep translucent loose setting powder on too. I am very pleased. It was nice to see the brand in person versus online. No oily breakout and it still looks good. Time to take it off though. Has anyone tried any other products from this line?

Re: The Deeper Hues Thread (Swatches, Color Matching, etc.)

Hi @IndyQT317,

Wow! Your skin looks FLAWLESS! Black UP is definitely a great brand for WOC. I love their contouring products and the Jennie Jenkins Highlighting Palette is so pretty!

I haven't tried the foundations yet, but it looks like I am going to have to now!

Best Wishes,

Janean

@JaneanBT Thank you! Yes, both highlighter pallettes were beautiful. The quality and pigment made me think of Artist Corture in a pressed form.

Your skin is flawless @IndyQT317!!!

I haven't tried this brand but they do have some items that have caught my attention (lip crayons I believe?)

Thank you @ElleElleG💗. I definitely will try other products from this brand. Fenty Beauty was also featured, but to see both brands together for people of color was pretty cool in one store.
