unused gift card with zero balance

I had recieved an gift card on easter that i had not tried to use until now. I had just now scratched the back off and when i put i the gift card in, it said 0 balance? I am confused because i’ve never used this gift card and i noticed that this happening to a bunch of people.

Don't hold your breath - Sephora will not be responsible for any gift cards sold outside their own store or online. I purchased a $25 card for my 12 year old and had the same experience that I now see is not uncommon. When my daughter went to use the card, she was told there was zero balance. She had never used it. The Sephora customer service has been less than expected. You would think that if your name is on a card, you take full responsibility even if that means making it right with the customer before you go up steam to figure out the root cause with your suppliers. Not the case. Sephora told me to take it up with Safeway.
