VIB renewal status

I recently tried to make a couple purchases to renew my VIB status for 2018. I successfully renewed my VIB status with these orders and my account was updated. One of the orders was canceled because the item was out of stock but I noticed it showed that I could purchase the item still so I made a second purchase. Now I’m worried that this second order will be canceled because the item is out of stock again. Will my VIB status not be renewed for 2018 if this happens — even though it shows I’ve already renewed it on my account? How will I know before it’s too late since I can only renew it for 2018 through 12/31?

I had an item that was canceled twice in two separate orders too... Honestly I would buy something else for at least the amount of the possibly-OOS item if you want to be totally sure to maintain your VIB status, since CS might be backed up with the last two days of the year falling on a weekend. Then if it's cancelled, you're still covered, and if it's not, you can keep the new item or return it after January 1 and be ok.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too! It's just a bit frustrating though not knowing.
