Unused gift card with zero balance

Received a brand new $50 gift card unscratched. Was super excited to use it, went to check out a Sol de Jainero mist. Cashier told me there was a zero balanced, showed me. I called to check the balance and it told me it had zero balance. This is insane 🤦‍♀️ how can I recieve a BRAND NEW  gift card and it has zero balance. It’s crazy, I just scratched it to reveal the numbers TODAY. When I received the gift card there was a receipt that said the balance was $50!!!!

This happened to me too 😞 I found a gift card from my birthday in March, it was in a gift card wallet in my other purse that has been in my closet since then so I am pretty positive it was never used. Super disappointing. Were you able to find a resolution?
