Store credit gone missing

Today I went to a Kiehls sephora event and tried to use my store credit merchandise but when they scanned it at check out it was 0 balance so I called the customer support after and they said its been used at 12:55 PM today  my receipt is 12:56 PM but i paid with my Visa since they said it has no balance left. i talked to 3 customer service with the lady at checked out at the store and nobody can help me. it’s so frustrating that all my store credit is gone just like that. so where did it possibly go? money gone out of thin air
