Sephora not honoring 20% discount??

Received a targeted email telling me to spend $50, receive 20% off. So Ispent the money but now they’re not honoring their promise of 20% off. I called and also emailed—both reps used a generic response and saidfirmly, “it is for a select group of insiders” and I’m like, AGREED! And you targeted me for that group! It just seems like false advertising to me. Not cool.

The same thing happened to me! I called in and they said they would honor it over the phone but I want my 20% Ebates cashback!

Same here! I received the initial email (and I think I remember seeing it in the app?) and spent over $50 on December 2nd. Never received an email with the code and when I try the code posted online it says it’s for “select” accounts. Sephora hasn’t replied to my email either. I was really looking forward to using this coupon but I guess I’ll save my money.

They haven't even responded to my email to Customer Service at 8:30PM PST last night, or my message to a MOD earlier today. This is reason to file a complaint with the FTC.

Hi Rebecca, Received your PM but it doesn’t address the issue. Does this mean you guys are sending this email to customers who are not already selected for the promotion? There’s no disclosure language stating that there is a secondary selection process. It literally tells you to spend first, then receive notification for a discount later. This needs to be escalated to management or the head of marketing because it’s clear other consumers are experiencing the same problem and writing in. Baiting and switching consumers is definitely not legal.

The just sent me a private message on here with the 20% off code, BUT ADVISED I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO USE IT ONLINE. They said if there is an error, I'd have to call Customer Service. I asked them for the email I was promised, so I could use it in store. Instead, I was told if my local store was unable to apply my 20% discount, I should pay full price, and them message the MOD my receipt, and she's credit my account the 20% difference. THAT IS NOT WHAT THE PROMOTION PROMISED.

 

That 20% savings is mine, and not Sephora's in the way of store credit. This is all fraudulent, and I'm updating the FTC as well as LVMH along the way.

The MODs are giving me the same runaround. I advise you to contact the FTC as well as Sephora's parent company, LVMH. I'm sure they'd be disgusted to hear how their subsidiary is treating customers and soiling the LVMH brand name.

 

EDIT: Filed a formal complaint with the FTC (Reference Number 114572838), and then forwarded it to LVMH. The way Sephora is treating us is disgusting and LVMH certainly would not approve.

I also spent the $50 and am owed the 20% discount. I emailed Sephora customer service, no answer. Mods, please don't PM me unless you are giving me the discount code. I will also follow up with the FTC
