Returning item to JCP Sephora

Hi, I bought an Algenist product from a Sephora store. I used it and it didn’t perform as promised so I went to a JCP Sephora to return it. I was told that since it was a line they didn’t carry and it was a pricier item, I needed to return it to the original store. Unfortunately, I waited until the last minute to return it and can’t make it to the original store until after my return window has ended. Has the policy changed?

You should've been able to return it to your local Sephora inside JCPenney store and I'm sorry they didn't accept it! I'm going to send you a PM to assist you further.

I would appreciate some help as well. I purchased something at a free standing Sephora less than a month ago. When I tried to return it at a Sephora inside a JCPenney they told me that they do not accept returns from a free standing Sephora. The manger Aaron told me this from the Sephora inside JCPenney in Hagerstown, Maryland. Can anyone confirm what the actual policy is? Thanks for your time.

I'm sorry to hear this! SiJCP can generally accept returns of products purchased at a freestanding Sephora store, however I believe this can vary depending on certain factors. For example, if you are interested in exchanging the purchase, SiJCP might not be able to do so if they don't have that particular item/brand available. Also, if you do not have your receipt, SiJCP may not be able to find the account details or purchase in their system. Generally, we suggest contacting your local SiJCP first to learn if they are able to process your return. I had a receipt, not doing an exchange, and was well within the time frame and JCP Sephora at Penn Square in OKC were very rude about it, would absolutely not do a return from a Sephora store.
