Order cancelled and sale lost

I have just got a cancelled order from Sephora on an eye shadow I bought as a gift. It was on sale on the website and I paid for it and selected the pick up option. This morning I got a notification the order was cancelled. I just checked on the website and the item is on stock but back to the original price, not on sale. The payment went through yesterday and they return the money today. This is not legal. They can`t return the money and make me buy it again for the regular price. I don`t want the refund, I want the product which was a gift a family member really wanted. 
Does anyone know where I can complain and go after my rights?
