Order Cancelled due to "Unsuccessful Authorization"

I tried placing an order and received an email shortly after saying it had been cancelled due to "unsuccessful authorization." I have checked to make sure my card details are correct, and I used the same card elsewhere today so I know it is not a banking issue. All the items in my cart are in stock. What is happening?
