I'm curious if anyone else had an allergic reaction from using OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright+ Vitamin C Eye Crème for Dark Circles 0.5 oz / 15 mL  eye cream recently? I made an order (December 2022) and used points to try out the Banana Bright. After 1 use I woke up with red, swollen and itchy under eyes. I saw the product was reformulated to avoid this, so I'm wondering if I was given a bad sample or what? It's extremely painful and won't go down with topical steroid or Benadryl!

I had the exact same issue. Used the cream on my eyes for a few weeks with no reaction then started having dry flaky eye lids to a few days later swollen puffy burning lids. I stopped and used cetaphil till it went away and then tried it again and bam, same reaction only worse.

I put this on my eyes before I went to sleep. Woke up to eyes burning.  I washed off with water… still burned. Woke up to eyes almost swollen shut. I tried cold compress, didn’t help. Cucumbers, tea bags, Benadryl, antihistamine eye drops all didn’t work. I had to do a tele-health visit to get prescriptionoral steroids. Eyes are still bad but at least I can see now. I can’t believe they are still selling this! If  you have sensitive skin, do not use this!

I had the same exact issue! I got a sample on Saturday, used on Sunday, already started seeing puffiness but woke up Monday with my eyes red, scaly, and swollen. What can we do here? The amount of people going through the same thing is unacceptable.

My eyes looked the exact same as yours. I tried the product 2 years ago and it was wonderful. Now I bought it again and everytime my eyes look like that afterwards. Somethings wrong with a possible new formula

I used it years ago and never had an issue. After trying several eye creams over the years I decided to go back to it, and my eyes swelled like crazy!! They definitely changed the formula! It doesn't feel like it used to. I've had to use a bunch of caffeine eye creams and masks to get the puffiness to reduce just a little bit. Contact the Sephora where you purchased it. There's a form they can fill out about allergic reactions and if enough people report the same thing, the company will look into the product.

Horrible reaction! How is this stuff still being sold when so many of us are having terrible reactions? It’s in the Sephora community forum but it’s still in stores?!

My first reaction was a few weeks ago, but I didn’t know what was causing it. I went on holidays and didn’t bring it with me. Came home and put it on before bed, wake up with extremely red, itchy, puffy under eyes, skin peeling and my entire face feels like it’s on fire.

This should be pulled off shelves immediately!

Does anyone from Sephora read these comments?!

I had the same reaction. I used the Banana Bright vitamin c serum tester in the morning and later that night my skin started to swell, became red and super itchy. It looked like I was purging from an acid peel gone wrong. I got home, washed my face and went to bed hoping it’d be better in the morning but it was worse and my eyes were almost completely swollen shut. I’m so disappointed in this product and have since thrown it in the trash where it belongs

Omg! I have the same reaction to Banana bright serum. My hole face is burning and the same around my eyes. It was very painful, I went to the doctor and take peels! This is crazy 😞

OMG thank you for this post. I have been using this product for months/years(?) with no reaction. But this past winter (~Jan 2023) I started having a bad reaction. Swollen dry eyelids, redness, like a bad allergy reaction. I wasn't sure if it was seasonal allergies or what. I stopped using it, let my eyes heal, and then tried it again and SAME THING. I haven't used it for 4 months, and have applied all kinds of eyemakeup etc. without trouble. Last night I tried it again, and the SAME THING. WTF. Then I found this post. Throwing this stuff out.

When I initially started using Olehenriksen Banana Bright + Vit C Brightening Eye Cream (OH BBVCB EC), everything was great! Absolutely LOVED it. Over the course of using the product, I did notice dry/flaky skin on my upper eyelids but it was mid-winter so assumed it was from the dry, winter weather. One morning, I woke up to my eyes almost completely swollen shut; irritated, swollen, incredibly dry and flaky. At this point, stopped using all skincare and began reintroducing products slowly (3+ days between re-introductions). Finally, reintroduced OH BBVCB EC and the next morning had the same reaction; incredibly swollen, dry, flaky, and red/irritated. Needless to say, the eye cream went right in the trash. So unfortunate that such an expensive product is having this effect on so many people.

Glad to see I'm not the only one having a bad reaction to a Banana Bright product...mine was because of the primer.  I had the same reaction: my entire face, eyelids, and under my eyes was swollen, itchy, red, and burning. What was even more frustrating was at first I wasn't sure what had caused it as I had previously used a sample size of the Banana Bright Primer and had no reaction to it...I had loved the glow it gave my skin hence the purchase of the full size one I finished my current primer.  Now it just makes my face red and swollen 😞  had to return it.

I had a horrible reaction that has left dark circles and looseness under my eyes. It started healing and was relatively dark and rough. The roughness went away completely. But It damaged my skin and left a dark fade.

Hi my under eyes are dry and itchy, in the borders my skin is burnt and it hurts i’ve been like this for over a week and im going to buy toleriane for eyes in order to make the itch stop

I have been using this product for 2 weeks and I didn’t put two and two together until randomly checking the recent reviews from this product! My ENTIRE face has been swollen and puffy for the last two weeks - I have been to the emergency room, urgent care and my PCP without knowing an eye cream could cause a reaction like this!! Shame on Sephora and OleHenricksen for keeping this product on the shelf causing irreparable damage to people’s skin!!! I have taken Benedryl, hydrocortisone cream, and even Presnidone to get the swelling down but nothing has worked. This product is trash and should be ripped from the shelves. I will be seeking legal action against Sephora and OleHenricksen for the damage they are causing.
