I'm curious if anyone else had an allergic reaction from using OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright+ Vitamin C Eye Crème for Dark Circles 0.5 oz / 15 mL eye cream recently? I made an order (December 2022) and used points to try out the Banana Bright. After 1 use I woke up with red, swollen and itchy under eyes. I saw the product was reformulated to avoid this, so I'm wondering if I was given a bad sample or what? It's extremely painful and won't go down with topical steroid or Benadryl!
I had the same reaction to Banana Bright Serum. My entire face, eyelids, and under my eyes was swollen, itchy, red, and burning. It’s really bad. I’m currently using a prescription cream for eczema all over my face. I’m disappointed and frustrated and my face looks like I had some sort of cosmetic face peel gone wrong.
I also had a allergic reaction to this eye cream.
Can we all group together to start a class action lawsuit against this skin care company, for selling a harmful product to the public.
If you want to be an more informed consumer about ingredients in your skincare or cosmetics. Then use this website created by the Environmental Working Group, for skincare and cosmetic ingredients, they test over 80k beauty products for consumer safety.
This product and others in this line of skincare has high allergy ratings. I’m going to start using this site as a reference for skincare information, than what is shown on the Sephora website or in store sales people.
I actually have an appointment with a dermatologist because of the burning, scaling rash around my eyes! Came on here to check reviews and now I believe this cream must be the cause. I started using it in November without issue, in January I started having reactions. I stopped using all my skincare products and avoided the outdoors since I wasn’t sure what the cause was, tried using it again a few days ago and now I look like I’ve been punched in my eyes, complete misery.
I used this product for the first time on Sunday night. I woke up with eyes that were almost swollen shut! I went to the allergist who gave me a shot and told me take Benadryl - its Tuesday now and they're still puffy but the swelling has gone down a bit. The skin around my eyes is now scaly and dry. I cant believe how many people have had the same reaction! What is it about this product?! I will be discontinuing all use of Ole products going forward. This is awful!
I had the same reaction- I’m so disappointed! The dry skin under my eyes is still healing. I won’t be buying Ole anymore!
I had the same problem a couple of years ago when I bought it. It started out with a little itching, then my eyes starting swelling and I could barely open them. I had to use compresses to help with the pain and wait it out. The skin got very dry and scaly for a few weeks afterwards, also. I’m too scared to try it again, even if they reformulated it. I couldn’t ever figure out what caused the reaction.
Yes! I just had the same issue! While I'm sad that all of you folks had the same experience, I'm comforted knowing its not just me. I used to love the Ole Henrikson line and was excited to use it again after not using it for a few years. Unfortunately the exact same thing happened a few months ago with the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and I used Cereve moisturizing cream on my eyes which cleared them up within in a few weeks. Hopefully I can repeat that process and from now on, keep to products that I know won't lead to irritation!
I had exact same experience recently with this eye cream! I used this eye cream while ago without issue. I bought it recently from this website and used it on my eye. I waked up with horrible allergic reaction! My both eye swollen so much! Lots of red rash around my eyes and even on my face (I might accidentally rubbed some on my face)! Till now the skin around my eyes haven’t gone back to normal! To make sure I tested some of the eye cream on my wrist. The red rash appeared right after. Sephora needs to remove this item from their website until they found out the cause! I don’t have sensitive skin. I always change to different brand skin care once a while. I suspect this product I received is either expired or not in good quality!
Yes! I tried the eye cream about 3 years ago and I had the same reaction. I recently got a sample of the Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum (around December 2022) and it caused the same allergic reaction to my eyes, despite not being applied to my eyes. I'm avoiding products from that line from now on.
Yes! I had the same reaction to this product. Woke up with swollen eyes. I used Hydrocortisone cream around eyes to bring down the swelling.
Yes, I got the same sample with points and after 2 days of using it my eyes are itchy, dry , bumpy and red in some areas. Disappointing. I’m trying to heal the allergic reaction with Kiehls Ultra barrier repair cream. Definitely helping.
Hi @EC7407,
I'm sorry to hear about this! I recommend discontinuing use of the item, if you haven't already. I'll send you a message.
Best,
Laurie
Yes I’ve had an allergic reaction to this product. Swollen eyelids and scales which flaked. The skin under my eye was extremely dry. I also got a stye on my right eye which won’t go away. Very disappointed as the product was great for brightening. Sadly I had to throw it out
Hi was also wondering the same thing?
I loved it when I was using before the pandemic. Then I stopped using it for awhile to try some other options.
well I bought some around the holidays and I feel like the formula is thinner and also the tops of my eyelids get rough and dry and sore it seems if I use it every day.
i thought it was just me?
was it this new formula change? I’m extremely disappointed 😞
Also @Haygunn, I found that using polysporin pink eye drops have brought down the swelling and itchiness.
That is so scary! I'm sorry you had issues too, hopefully you're on the mend! Maybe it was a bad sample batch? My skin texture was completely changed after one use... it feels rough and bumpy like a citrus fruit. The swelling has gone down some but the area is still red after several days and lots of allergy meds. Sephora did refund my 100 points though lol
Yes, I had the same reaction! It seems like the sample has given me pink eye in both eyes! Not impressed at all...
I started using the product in late October and stated experiencing dry flaky eyelids early January. I thought it was due to not drinking enough water and the weather being cold. Then one morning my eyes were swollen and face was red. I discontinued all makeup products then began to gradually introduce each product. Once I started ole henricksen again the reaction was worse. Eyes were almost swollen shut. I got a prescription for the swelling and redness and was told to take an antihistamine. Sephora should discontinue selling the product.
Hello,
I am currently experiencing a reaction to this line. Has anyone been in contact with the company?
