Is this valid?

I just received an Email from Sephoraoffice.ca@gmail.com and we had a conversation. Now they have sent me a cheque to deposit in my bank account for buying โ€˜office suppliesโ€™ for this remote position. I am just not sure if itโ€™s valid and not a scam? How can I confirm?

@txnyxnarang That is not one of our emails and I would recommend not engaging further and reporting this as a phishing attempt through your email.
