Is It Normal for an SA to Open the Value Set Package to Checkfor Damage When You're Buying It?

I recently bought a boxed value set in store, and the SA at checkout said she had to open the box to make sure nothing was broken in the set. It was the Tarte Treasure Set. At the time I didn't think anything of it cause it was the last available one in this area and I wanted it to be okay, but later on I wondered what could've been broken in it. Lip gloss, eyeshadow, and eyeliner. 🤔 Is it really normal for them to open it to check?
