Credit card payment error

When trying to make an online purchase using my credit card I'm receiving a common error saying that they are unable to process my payment and to check my credit card information to ensure it's correct. I've checked and triple checked and it's accurate, yet I'm still getting this issue. I'd happily use my paypal account to pay for my purchase, but if I need to return anything in store I understand it'll be a bit of a hassle. I'd love to have this fixed.
