5 digit pin on Gift Card

Hello. Not sure I’m posting this in the right location, but I can’t seem to get a straight answer from anyone in your customer service department. My son purchased a Sephora gift card for me for my birthday and I tried to use it online and it says the pin number is invalid and that it needs to be eight digits. When I chatted with customer service, I was told that I scratched off the other three letters, and therefore its invalid, Gift card did not have a scratch off. It had a peel off so it would be impossible for me to scratch off the additional 3 numbers.  I have been with Sephora for 10 years, I have more points than a lot of people have ever seen when I go inside a Sephora store. I don’t know why I’m getting such a runaround on a $25 gift card.  How am I able to use this gift card. It is sold by Sephora.  Thank you.
