On my birthday, I received a gift card on February 13th. Three days later, I went to the store to check the balance. They said there was $25. Today, when I went to Sephora to spend it, they said there was no money on it. I called customer service, and they said there was still a zero balance. I never used this card. I need a transaction history. Unfortunately, nobody seems to care. Terrible customer service, and I’m so disappointed. I hope I can get back my $25 as the order never went through so it basically stole my money.
This happened to me too! My grandpa bought me a $50 card for Christmas and I just went to use it yesterday in the store opened it in front of the worker, scratched it off, and the balance was zero. I called support and they said it was used January 4th!! The first transaction was $30 in the second transaction was $20. Support was very unhelpful and honestly, this is frustrating because this is a lot of money to me. This has to be a production problem for it to be happening to so many people. Sephora needs to make sure the company and/ or workers they’re sourcing these gift cards from aren’t stealing the information and waiting until after Christmas to use the cards. Especially if they’re not going to refund me the money.

my private messages are now on. I’ve been on hold with customer service for two hours and they said there is nothing they can do. They said I need to contact the bank.
This happened to me with a $100 gift card. I called customer service and they told me to call the person who gifted me the card and have them file a claim with their bank, there’s “nothing Sephora can do”. Ridiculous. Someone gives you a $100 gift card and you’re suppose to call them like “hey Sephora is saying it has $0 so call your bank and file a claim”. There has to be some kind of actual remedy for this through Sephora.
It happened to me as well. $75 unused Sephora gift card has zero balance on it.
I tried to use the unused Sephora gift card at the store and even the Sephora cashier helped me to scratch it and it didn't work due to zero balance.
I called the number on the back of the card and Sephora customer service wants me to contact the bank to get help!! Doesn't make sense...
This just happened to me, my husband bought me a 50.00 gift card and attached the little gift receipt showing how much was on it. I went to use it today (it was bought a few months ago but kept attached to the little cardboard thing it comes on and tucked away in my purse) online when I tried to add it, it says there’s a 0.00 balance. How frustrating! It sounds like this is common.

This just happened to me too $100 gift card. So far no help from Sephora. I got this for a big birthday from a really hard working friend- so beyond generous. I know I can’t tell her that I’ve been scammed- it would break her heart.

Same thing just happened to me today!! I had only 2$ left on a gift card I never had used or scratched that I got for my graduation last month. I’ve received absolutely no help regarding the matter and it’s so frustrating that no one at sephora seems to care even though its a very well known scam that happens constantly.

Same thing happened to me. I went to use a e-gift card online however when I went to place the order, the system errored out and said that the payment method could not be processed. I re-entered the information and then it said that there was no balance on the card. Customer service is telling me that the card has been used and there's nothing they can do. An order was never even placed! It is so frustrating.
Unused, unscratched Sephora gift cards with $0 balance, fraudulently used online! Sephora is doing nothing to help us. Let’s report them to the FTC and to the BBB … we don’t deserve to be cheated! I am all in for a class action lawsuit. And let’s take this to Twitter. We’ll make them take responsibility.

This same thing is happening to me and I'm so angry with Sephora customer service, who responded to my email with "not our problem."
I was given two $25 gift cards, which I tried to use this weekend at a store and was told they have $0 balance, which is not possible because we pealed the seal off right there at checkout. I assumed it was the employee's error, so I came home to try it on the Sephora website and I'm getting the same error message.
These gift cards were purchased at Albertsons one month ago, in March. I called the Sephora customer service line and received absolutely no help from the agent. I was told "it's not our responsibility to fix" and that I should try contacting Albertsons, but they'd probably send me back to them. She then told me to dispute the credit card charge. Like what?? Yeah, I'm gonna send my 70 year old mother on a wild goose chase trying to get this fixed??
I'm so frustrated by this response from Sephora. If this is a known issue, you need to fix it immediately. If these cards are easily scammable, then Sephora needs to change their gift card process. I can't believe this was the customer service response. What a ridiculous runaround.
hey- going through the exact same thing and super disappointed. called sephora line and they didn't know what was wrong, and I can't get ahold a cash star, though even if i did, it seems evident from other peoples comments that they won't be much help either. would appreciate a PM from you to resolve this issue

Hi. The same thing is happening to me!! I have a $25 gift card. Never been used, the back wasn’t scratched off until now and it’s showing a $0 balance. I googled it and came across at least 100 posts saying the same thing. Hopefully Sephora will make this right…
