Humidity

So I know that all curly-haired babes have a problem with humidity, but I was just wondering if they were any shampoos and conditioners or treatments that would help with thin hair in hot climates. My hair is very fine and long with tons of frizz. I absolutely have to put product in my hair or else I just have a mess on my head. If I use too much shampoo and conditioner, which I barely use any at all, it just makes my hair really oily (which makes my hair fall flat and loose my pretty curls). Whenever I use a lot of it, my hair is tame for maybe two hours and then it gets oily immediately. So overall I guess I want something that will help me keep neater curls all day!

Re: Humidity

Everyone has given so many great recommendations, and tips!! After washing your hair, we recommend using a curl-defining cream, to help maintain shape. Briogeo's Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Creme contains Tomato Fruit Ferment, which aids in enforcing consistent curl formation, and enhances curl definition. You can layer Briogeo's Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Sprayon top of it, and this contains Argan Oil, which helps to control frizz! You can use these with Briogeo's Rosarco Repair Shampoo, and Rosarco Repair Conditioner, to fight frizz, and have beautiful curls!

Thank you! This sounds great!

Re: Humidity

I have pretty much the same length and a little bit of more curlier hair.  That didn't sound right, but I think you know what I mean. : ) I love the Shea moisture curl and shine shampoo along with the coconut hibiscus cream ( Shea Moisture ) and the Cantu moisturizing curl activator cream.  I don't use Conditioner. I was my hair 2 or 3 times a week.  Hope this helped.

RE: Re: Humidity

I was thinking that maybe it was the conditioner, even though I barely use any. Am going to try doing without 👍🏼

Re: Humidity

Hi! I live in Hawaii (super humid!) and i have very curly, frizz prone hair. I use sulphate and paraben free shampoos and conditioners, but be warned- the transition from products with to products without can be brutal. My hair was frizzier than ever, but got better after 6 weeks. The transition is worth it. My current go-to styling method is to section out my hair (bottom half, and then the top half into two sections) and apply a quarter size amount of Bounce Curl followed by Shea Moisture Curling Smoothie to each section. I have found the next best thing is to scrunch and AIR dry. It will dry crispy, but you can then scrunch it out gently with your hands. And voila! Frizz free curls. I can usually go about 4 days before the next wash/style.  I use a light hairspray to keep everything in place.

P.S. I love your shirt. RIP, Bob. 🙂

RE: Re: Humidity

Thank you so much!! I will try this! I use shea mositure a lot so maybe I just need to try some different methods. And also, I love my bob ross shirt! Rip bob ❤️

Re: Humidity

@AjaVu @st2smith I was scared to go sulfate-free but I actually had a brainstorm: I mixed my regular shampoo with the sulfate-free shampoo, and used more and more sulfate-free each time.  For me, that made the transition easy.  🙂

Re: Humidity

@st2smith I rec sulfate-free shampoos to keep your hair healthy, and thus less prone to frizz.  I am really loving Pureology Hydrate.  As for conditioner, I love Biolage Hydrasource Conditioning Balm.  It helped to tame my broken hairs.  Good luck!

RE: Re: Humidity

Thank you so much, will definitely try it!!

Re: RE: Re: Humidity

@st2smith I also rec Living Proof Humidity Shield.  It's not a miracle worker, but I'd say it works pretty well overall.  I use it everyday - won't leave the house without it.  If you are like me, you will take any step possible to decrease the risk of frizz!
