Do you have a current skincare routine or are you starting from scratch, @sushiiii15? You won't want to start incorporating acne fighters until you have a basic routine down so that you don't irritate your skin and further compound your skin issues.

I also initially used the "shade match" algorithm Sephora has ,but found that the recommended shade was too pink for me. I am usually neutral in my undertones. I found it helpful to look at the swatches on Sephora's website that corresponded with neutral undertones and then overall complexion ie N =neutral, C=cool, W=warm. By estimating that way, I found my perfect match. For reference, I am 130N and I usually wear shell in the Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation.

Hello all! I gave melasma dark spots on my upper lip... makes it look like I have a permanent mustache :(... I use Clinique’s dark spot serum and also ole henriksen’s dark spot toner.. I’m general the rest of my skin care routine consists of origins plantscription line. I gave noticed a very small improvement but lately it’s just stayed the same. Does anyone have any recommendations that have worked for them for melasma lightening specifically? Also any recommendations for covering it with make up? I use foundation and concealer but since it’s on my lip it looks awfully caked sometimes or it seems to emphasize the dark spots more... any info would be helpful!! Thank you!!!

@tkerns Are you sure you need full coverage? I'm in my late 40s and quit using liquid and cream foundations about 2 years ago. Now I occasionally use a tinted moisturizer for sheer coverage, just to blur the lines between my skin tones while my skincare routine brings those tones closer together. (I rely mostly on retinol and niacinamide to do that heavy lifting.) My current favorite tinted moisturizer is Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector 5W1 Tan : it adapts well to my skin tone(s) and gives me a natural finish. Many folks love NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. When I need more coverage—usually to mask my dark hollow tear troughs, or to cover acne scars—I just spot-conceal. My current favorite concealers for that are BECCA Cosmetics Ultimate Coverage Longwear Concealer Cinnamon and PAT McGRATH LABS Sublime Perfection Concealer MD23 . But I frequently test other concealers. To set my concealer, I use the original translucent loose powder version of By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder. There's a new pressed powder compact version; I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the mail so I can try it out. I love the loose powder because it never makes me look cakey, and I need just the teeniest tiniest amount to set concealer in my tear troughs all day, even on swelteringly hot and humid days when everything else has melted off my face. 🤣 Oh, and I sometimes use a powder foundation instead of a tinted moisturizer, especially if I need to tone down the shine of a particular sunscreen. This is something I recommend only if your skincare routine gives you well hydrated and moisturized skin. But the one I use is By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Compact Lifting Foundation—even though it contains fragrance ingredients my skin normally doesn't like. It never makes my dry zones look dry, and it perfectly blurs the lines between my skin tones.

@Emy10 I’m on a Chanel phase right now, I wish Sephora Canada carried Chanel, make my life easier. Le Blanc is my favourite, at $100 for 1 oz it’s pretty costly but I do prefer it to La Mer The Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation SPF 20 310 Beige - Medium Skin with Neutral UndertoneI also like Dior Backstage but it’s more my Summer foundation. I honestly haven’t worn drugstore foundation in 20 years, so I have no opinions on them.
