Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

ArmaniBeautyConcealer.JPG

Hi friends! Earlier this year Giorgio Armani launched the Power Fabric High Coverage Stretchable Concealer, which is a matte yet natural concealer that easily blends into the skin, is great for all skin types, and comes in 20 different shades. @LexBT, @KatieBT, and I all have combo-oily skin and are always on the lookout for great coverage that will last all day, so you can imagine how excited we were to test this concealer out.

We know luxe products tend to be a bit pricier for some but we are so inspired by the luxe lovers in BIC and none of us had tried Armani concealer. Naturally, we wanted to see what the buzz was all about. Is luxe concealer truly worth it? *Spoiler* IT IS!

We all have been using this concealer for about three months now and here is why we’re going head over heels:

  • Packaging: we are suckers for nice packaging over here and this concealer did not let us down. The product comes in a classic Armani Beauty tube and it has a clear bottom and black cap with the Giorgio Armani logo. The design is simple yet very timeless, elegant, and chic.
  • Formula: OBSESSED! This concealer is very highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. The color payoff is amazing but without the heavy/cakey look and feeling afterward. Although the formula is matte, it does not get dry and crease under our eyes but nicely melts into the skin for a creaseless, natural look.
  • Applicator: The applicator is a soft sponge, almost flat, yet strong and picks up the perfect amount of product.

Here are our before and after pictures:

RE: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

Great tip! Question- How does this one compare to the Diorskin Forever Undercover? I just got a new bottle of the Dior and wondering if I should go back to the store and try the Giorgio Armani/exchange for it instead? Would Love your thoughts!

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

Sephora doesn’t have it yet but I am loving Tom Ford’s Emotionproof Concealer.

Full coverage, doesn't crease and does not budge even if I have watery eyes when my allergies hit. It is expensive but when you think of all the coins we spend on multiple items for me it works out cheaper to invest in the One (and done).

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

I definitely want to try this. My holy grail is Shape Tape but it is on the dryer side so something with a more natural finish would be great!

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@BrendaBT  Not sure if this thread is specific to Armani concealer but I have been trying to figure out a foundation among the following (open to other suggestions) for a dewy natural looking finish. With most foundations end up separating, flaking or looking cakey on my skin as I have dry skin on cheeks. I regularly exfoliate etc but it doesn't make a difference.

Toughest part is that my local store doesn't carry these so I can't go and try these on and don't want to buy, open and then return.

1. Armani Luminous Silk,

2. Charlotte Tillbury Light Wonder,

3. RMS uncover-up (So super expensive)

4. Dior Backstage Face and Body

GIORGIO ARMANI BEAUTY - Luminous Silk Foundation

CHARLOTTE TILBURY - Light Wonder Foundation - 8 Medium

RMS BEAUTY - Un Cover-Up Concealer/Foundation

DIOR - BACKSTAGE Face & Body Foundation - 4 Warm

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@naturalooks15 I wouldn't say the Dior Backstage is particularly dewy looking, more of a satin finish. The most recent dewy one that I've tried is the TARTE - babassu foundcealer™ skincare foundation SPF 20.

I like the RMS but it isn't particularly longwearing and like you said, very expensive given how much product you get. I've heard another good dewy one is the BAREMINERALS - COMPLEXION RESCUE Hydrating Foundation Stick Broad Spectrum SPF 25

but I haven't tried that one yet. I haven't tried the Luminous Silk or Light Wonder so can't help you with those.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@makeitup305  I think rather than dewy, I should say I am looking for non-matt (Only matt I loved was YSL All Hours but I need to have layers of hydration and prep and blending so not my cup of tea).

Maybe I am confused between satin and dewy finish (will google it). I do love love love the finish on your pics (CT thread I think, but then I understand that my skin is not the same as yours 🙂  and any foundation can do only so much) and I think your post was the one that  prompted me to research the Dior Backstage.

I wish they carried these in my local store so I could try.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@naturalooks15  have you tried the MAC face and body? The Dior Backstage is similar but with more coverage IMO. To me dewy is more along the lines of you look borderline wet/oily which I love, especially if I plan to wear mostly cream products on top. I live in AZ so it holds up ok but I wouldn't recommend it if you live in a very humid area. My skin is mostly normal to dry now but when I lived in FL it felt more normal to oily. Satin finish might be your style. Have you tried the LAURA MERCIER - Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation? That one has a nice satin finish. What kind of primers/powders do you use? Maybe those are affecting your wear.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

Thanks @makeitup305  I think there is MAC in Macy's here so I should be able to try it. Laura Merciere I think is in my local Sephora so I can try that too.

You are right, I googled and I think I am looking for Satin finish.

My skin sound similar to yours. when I visit FL, it's normal leaning towards oily) but it;s drier side in midwest with quite dry in winters.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@naturalooks15 what foundations do you have currently?

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@makeitup305  I have couple of Serum Foundation from the ordinary but they are not right color so not using them. 2-3 years ago I was using Bobby Brown long wear compact foundation and loved it tons but they have changed that formula ( plus I have gotten older so it doesn’t look that good on me, suddenly big pores and crepe skin) so I stopped using it.

Now everyday I just use Umbra Tinte. Looking for foundation for special occasions. If I get proficient and quick in using it then I might use it more frequently.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@naturalooks15  I think you should give the Laura Mercier luminous foundation a shot,  it might be just what you're looking for- not dewy but still very skin like. Another option to consider is the Hourglass Vanish™ Seamless Finish Foundation Stick 5 ShellWhich gets rave reviews. Sadly, I haven't tried it so I can't vouch for it but since it's a stick it's easy to apply and blend. Tbh I didn't like the ordinary serum foundation, it slid all over my face which rarely happens. I also barely set my face with powder, I mostly just wait for my foundation to set a bit before blending cheek products on top so you could try that too. I also have some drugstore recommendations if you'd rather try something that doesnt break the bank since you don't wear foundation that often.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@makeitup305  @SportyGirly125  Just wanted to update you guys since I picked your brain so much. I was traveling to Chicago for work for 1 day so was able to get samples of Dior face & body, CT Hollywood filter as well as Armani Face fabric foundation from Sephora here and will try those out. Yay !! Super happy about that !!

Also I might use  @WinglessOne ’s  strategy of buying these with rouge reward because I have hard time spending money on makeup products. But I would happily buy skincare which are my staples with real money.

So buy something to feel happy and splurge with that rouge money. Though I am careful   shopper still so I am trying out the sample before actually buying.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@naturalooks15 Yay you got your samples.  I hope you find something you like.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@naturalooks15  I tried the Hourglass vanish stick and didn’t like it even mixed in with different foundation. It was too drying.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@SportyGirly125  Could you please let me know what shade do you use in CT Hollywood Filter?

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@naturalooks15 shade 2

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@SportyGirly125 oh no, that's too bad! I've been dying to try it but since I can't get a sample I haven't picked it up yet.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

Thanks @makeitup305  & @SportyGirly125  for all your help. I will try out the MAC and Laura Mercier one and try and get CT & Dior Samples if I travel anywhere.

I didnt like like the Ordinary foundation either, it was patchy. I have wasted money on coulour Pop and The Ordinary foundations (ordering multiple shades since didn’t know my shade and those were cheap) that in the end it probably cost me as much as a good foundation from Sephora 😀

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

@naturalooks15 I'm guilty of buying the cheaper option to avoid paying for the more expensive one and then buying the more expensive one anyway.

Re: Luxe Coverage, Anyone?

If Armani could come out with like three more deep shades that be great. In store 11 and 12 are pretty much the same color and 9 is a JUMP from them, and oddly enough there’s no 10? I wanted to buy it during the sale because it felt great and the reviews are good, but I’m not paying $34 for a concealer to have to mix it with something else to get the right color.
