Loose Setting Powder for Sensitive but Oily Skin

Hey guys!

I have tried everything from Laura Mercier, to Cover FX, and Make up Forever.

I tried the Laura Mercier one first and loved everything about it until it broke me out. I then tried Cover FX but it did nothing to control my shine what so ever. Then tried the Makeup Forever HD loose powder, and that was okay but I still wasnt the biggest fan.

Anything you guys would recommed, preferably talc free?

I also have super oily skin.

Thanks ❤️

I recommend the Too faced ethereal setting powder. It's amazing.

The only setting powder I've tried is Kat Von D's Lock It and I LOVE it.  I have oily and sensitive skin too, and I've noticed that by the afternoon I have a little bit of shine but nowhere near as much as I used to before I started using it.

I have similar skin and the only one I'll use is Clinique...

not sure if this is too late, but i've used the sephora brand setting loose powder, and it's awesome. it really lasts through the whole day to keep me matte!

I love the Cinema Secrets Ultralucent Setting Powder. It’s talc-free and so underrated!

@CakesCakes!  I just ordered it in Beige.  I hope it suites my skintone (medium/tan).  I'm looking forward to giving it a try!

@b3autygrl good luck! I hope it works for you too!!

RE: Loose Setting Powder for Sensitive but Oily Skin

I am allergic to laura mercier products and o have oily skin too. It makes me breakout really bad. I was willing and gave the setting powder a try and I regretted it. I ended up exchanging it a few later to the urban decay velvitizer and it has worked for me since.

I use the urban decay naked loose powder and it never breaks me out. It’s not fully translucent, there’s a little tiny bit of coverage to it, but the texture is amazing and it controls oil well.

Hi @PSIDHUU!

I too have sensitive oily skin.  I also tried Laura Mercier and it did absolutely nothing for them.  I've been using IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores as a setting powder but have learned that the way I apply it makes a big difference.  I press it into my skin using a powder puff and this helps me stay matte the longest (not forever - but better than if I just brush it on).  I then brush off the excess.  I've been using this method also with Bare Mineral's Mineral Veil and it also seems to work.  Maybe give this method a try with the Cover FX to see if it works for you.  I've been wanting to try that powder as I heard great things about it and it's talc free also.  I hope you find this helpful!

Re: Loose Setting Powder for Sensitive but Oily Skin

What do you guys think about the RCMA no colour powder? Has anyone tried it? it still has talc in it.. which makes me so hesitant to try it. But non the less I've heard amazing things about it.

Re: Loose Setting Powder for Sensitive but Oily Skin

Hi @PSIDHUU,

I haven't tried the RCMA one but I avoid using face powders that have talc in it.  I recently got a sample of the Cover FX and am trying it out.  I use it the same way I use my IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores by pressing into my skin and it seems to perform relatively the same. The only major difference is that Cover FX leaves me with much less white cast (it's almost translucent). The other difference is the price point.  Not sure if I'll end up buying the full size one or maybe try another talc free one before I make a decision.
