Moisturizer

I’ve tried so many different moisturizer and oil but none really worked for me, it was either too weak or broke me out and clogged my pores.

Re: Moisturizer

Hi @duhitsjulz ! I love the SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hydrator - Hydrate & Glow 1.69oz/ 50mL , it is really hydrating, and non-comedogenic (won't clog your pores). If you find you also want something more oil-balancing, I would recommend Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer 2 oz/ 60 mL . I hope this helps! Have a great day 🙂

Re: Moisturizer

@duhitsjulz  I really enjoy Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi 2 oz/ 60 mL  It keeps me hydrated all day long, and does not break me out

Re: Moisturizer

@duhitsjulz A few options to consider: belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb 0.84 oz/ 25 mL, Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet Mini 0.66 oz/ 20 mL, OLEHENRIKSEN Sheer Transformation® Perfecting Moisturizer 1.7 oz/ 50 mL, Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream 1.7 oz/ 50 mL, Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream

Re: Moisturizer

I've been pleasantly suprised by the Elf moisturizers. They have a day one and night one and they're both good. (I have combo skin).

I aslo like the No.7 brand.

I suggest you check them out 🙂

Re: Moisturizer

@duhitsjulz I saw below that you currently use a Cetaphil oily skin cleanser and The Ordinary 100% Rose Hip Oil. I assume you have combo skin. (So do I, though mine's mostly dry.) I have a few questions:

  1. Which Cetaphil cleanser do you use? DermaControl Oil Removing Foam Wash?
  2. Is that cleanser and rose hip oil your entire skincare routine, or do you use any other products?
  3. Do you wash your face twice a day (morning and night), or just once a day?
  4. What are some of the moisturizers and oils you've already tried that didn't work for you?

Meanwhile: if you use a facial oil as a moisturizer, try applying it to damp skin. Your face doesn't have to be soaking wet, but you'll want a layer of hydration under the oil. Also, some oils aren't as occlusive as others, so they won't do as good a job preventing moisture loss. For instance, mineral oil is highly occlusive and does a much better job of sealing hydration into skin than rose hip oil. And your cleanser might be causing half your problems if it leaves your skin feeling stripped, tight, or "squeaky clean." A hydrating cleanser could be your skin's best friend.

My skin has a love-hate relationship with 100% rose hip oil. I can't use it on my whole face each day without new acne popping up. My skin greatly prefers sunflower oil, which is one of the main ingredients in my usual moisturizer, Youth To The People Superfood Air-Whip Lightweight Face Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid 2 oz / 59 m... .

Re: Moisturizer

1. I use the oily skin cleanser from cetaphil ( ive been using it for a while now)

2. No i use glycolic acid a few times a week, toner, hyaluronic acid, lactic acid only when I fee like it.
3. Twice

4. I used to use aloe vera soothing gel as a moisturizer, aveeno, fresh rose hydration cream, the ordinary’s natural moisturizing factors.
and yes I damp my skin.

Re: Moisturizer

@duhitsjulz  If your entire face isn't normally oily, or you're normally just a little oily in your t-zone or some small part of your face, then DermaControl Oil Removing Foam Wash might be too drying for you—especially for twice-daily use. I mean, if a dermatologist recommended you use that cleanser twice a day, keep going I guess and mention to your derm that you're having moisturizer issues. But I suspect your cleanser is half your problem. Have you ever tried any other Cetqphil cleansers? You could also try a CeraVe cleanser, like their very popular hydrating cleanser. At the very least, consider using the Cetaphil oil cleanser just once a day—maybe at night—and using a gentler, more hydrating cleanser in the morning.

Speaking of CeraVe: many people love that brand's Moisturizing Cream or PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion as a face moisturizer. CeraVe is known for loading their products with ceramides, which can help skin retain hydration. Sometimes you can find trial/travel sizes of their products at Target or drugstores; that's a good way to test them.

I've already mentioned my skin's favorite moisturizer (YTTP Superfood), but I also like Paula's Choice CLEAR Oil-Free Moisturizer for daytime. Paula's Choice sells a travel size of that and many other products. If your skin's not sensitive to vitamin C: I've had success with The INKEY List Vitamin B, C, and E Moisturizer 1.7 oz/ 50 mL .

Re: Moisturizer

Oh yes! I have tried the cerave moisturizer and it broke me out so bad :(((

thank you for the recommendations tho

Re: Moisturizer

I haven’t yet, is it good?

Re: Moisturizer

@duhitsjulz I tried it but I have combo skin but on the drier side so it was just okay for me.

Re: Moisturizer

Did you break out?

Re: Moisturizer

@duhitsjulz No, I did not

Re: Moisturizer

@duhitsjulz @What are you using?

Re: Moisturizer

Right now for moisturizer they recommend me to use the ordinary 100% cold pressed rose hip oil and for cleanser I use cetaphil for oily skin.

Re: Moisturizer

@duhitsjulz The Ordinary rosehip oil says on the packaging that it should be used at night. I don’t use it as a moisturizer though just for extra hydration.

Re: Moisturizer

Yes I know thats why I asked their customer service and sephora service they both said it was okay?

Re: Moisturizer

I think the key to finding the right moisturizer is finding the right cleanser that balances your skin first. Some cleansers are too aggressive in tackling the oil which will leave leave some parts of your skin too dry and you'll over produce oil in some areas to compensate for the dryness which can lead to break outs.  Perhaps you might want to go back to your cleanser first and see if maybe a change in that area will help your skin be more moisturizer friendly?

I use First Aid Beauty's Pure Skin Face Cleanser and find that leaves my skin in the right place for whatever I want to on top of it.
