Heyyy.

I was wondering what I could do about cakey/flakey foundation on my nose. My nose area is very very dry, yet oily. Please help a sis out w. suggestions! Also, what do ya'll recommend as for a primer and foundation?

Re: Heyyy.

I would do two basic things -- use an AHA exfoliator and an oil, not lotion, for your moisturizer.

AHAs do not dry out your skin and they are good at exfoliating the superficial layers of your skin.  This should help with flakiness.  I use an AHA lotion on my body in the winter, you just need some kind of exfoliant when your skin is too dry.

I recommend an oil for a moisturizer because it should sink into your skin without clogging pores.  A lot of lotions sit on top of your skin.  When you say you have oily AND dry skin, I feel like that happens when the skin is being cleansed and stripped of its own oil (moisture) and nothing is added back on, so your skin reacts by overproducing oil.  It happens to me sometimes when I'm in a tight spot and have to use a cleanser that is more harsh than the ones I'm used to.  Herbivore has a range of face oils for oily to dry skin, although there are tons of options (some very affordable).

For a makeup suggestion -- I'm not sure if it's the finish you want, but both the laneige BB hydra cushion and Dr. Jart premium BB give great moisturizing coverage.  It doesn't break up or crease like more traditional foundations because it applies more like skincare than makeup.  Neither are full-coverage, though.  An alternative is the Marc Jacobs full cover foundation concentrate.  It offers high-pigment foundation in a watery formula, so it tends to wear better than something thicker.  I haven't used that one, but the similar Mac "waterweight" serum foundation.  it adheres so well to your skin you should have less issues.

Hope this is helpful!
