HELLLLLOOOO HELLO ๐๐ฝ my Cheeky Coquettes! It's the Awesome Autumn Advent of the cheek challenge. We're again, choosing our own adventure. I'm calling this one ..Fall Flushing Forward!
This is where I encourage you to lean into your blush blindness by using a product you thought you could never use or can't figure out. But, fear not we're still mixing it up mediums and technique wise, but with the seasonal spin.
"But danielledanielle I want inspo and not just options"
I got you, I goottttt youuuuu.
I have kept the suggestions and descriptions below, and added a few updates! BUT, I still encourage everyone to choose what they like, you don't even have to go in order. Want to be bronzy STILL? Be about the bronze โ๐ฅโ โ๐โ and apply it in any and every method. Want to stick to your tried and true, check out vibrant...... Or, wanna take something that didn't wow you? Check out the prompt Tried and Through take 2.
I woke up (blonzed)** like this aka Blush and Bronzer (Sephora 22-28; Fall Equinox is 22nd)
BOYFRIEND BLUSH
Tomboy Blush (Sep 29-Oct 5th)
Glazed Cheeks AKA Blushlights (Oct 6-12th)
Vibrant or Tried and Through, Take 2- one and done (October 13-19th)
Fall Foliage Face AKA Sunset Blush for the season (Oct 20-26th)
Blontour**, the cooler the better (Oct 27-Nov 3rd)
**Side quest:
Hottie Toddies! November 4-10th
Methods:
"Diffuse the doozy" aka blend with color
Instead of a blush brush, use a tapered brush with a highlighter or a lighter color blush to blend out the stronger/pigmented one. If using liquid products, see Glazed Cheeks. The idea is to system harsh edges with a lighter blush.
Update - Diffuse the Doozy when color on color
Use two blushes with the lighter blush placed closer to your nose and the deeper towards your ear. Use your complexion tool (sponge or brush) WITH your leftover complexion product to marry/blend the lighter blush and bring it in further without too much color or harshness, IMO
It's a lighter diffused look than boyfriend blush, but it mimics that flushed look
Brush Army
Use multiple brushes in your application. Think powder, fans, tapered, stippling. Go beyond your favorite blush brush or use this as rationale to get new brushes, just sayin'
Bounce, bounce bounce
You guessed...it sponges. Do you go for the beloved #Beautyblender ORIGINAL Beautyblender Makeup Sponge Original #Beautyblender ORIGINAL Beautyblender Makeup Sponge Original #or something else? Bounce to it
All Hands on Deck
Fingers are nature's brushes, and nothing blends better than the warmth of your hand.
Side Quest:
Apply blush to the back of your hand, then press or "stamp" to your face and blend out with your fingers. I haven't tried it yet, but saw a comment on Reddit about this. I usually tap out blush with my two fingers (index and middle), but this seems interesting โ๐คโ
Pressed, but never stressed
This is inspo @furbie when she asked what a powder puff was for. I think I said for powders, but I never considered using it for other powders (blush, highlighter) until then. This takes something baked like #Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Demi'Glow Light-Diffusing Highlighter #Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Demi'Glow Light-Diffusing Highlighter # to next level space shine โ๐โโ๐โ๐โ
Double Dip with optional swirl
This is @sister13 's technique where she so kindly let me name it with this level of ridiculousness I like to do. This works really well with bold, complimentry colors (color theory y'all), the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter duos are great for this as well as the highlights. The optional "swirl" sister used can involve tapping both colors in a flipping the blush, or a general swipe while blending, which can make bold colors and little more uniform
She used SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Powder Brush #50 for the Killawatt, namely mimosa sunrise
@PDXXXX, first and foremost... There are no fails here. Just experiments! We are Cheek-quettes of science ๐งช
Second, you look great! You tried it a different way, and learned a preference (liquid vs cream)
Third, I felt the "how much blush it took to not look like you're wearing blush." This is my experience everytime with "no makeup" makeup.
Fourth, I think liquid blush can work, you might need to do underpainting, aka reverse contour if the blush is strong on pigment. The other thing you can use is a beauty blender, or even a triangle sponge with your foundation to help soften any edges
@danielledanielle ooh, I just had to look up underpainting and I'm very excited to try it - thanks for the tip! I'm going to continue to play with this one. I get so much motivation to push out of my comfort zone with these challenges so that is always a win!
It looks like sunset blush in person blush ๐งก
P.S. itโs pout season because Halloween is only one day hehe
Love your look!! Your lips are stunning @peculiarzmakeup
Aw thank you so much I forgot to apply a lip liner so it got kinda smudgy but I love the shade itโs such a pretty red! I appreciate it โค๏ธ๐ @lmaster
I saw the post initially, and I'm here for the pout๐๐ฝ @peculiarzmakeup , but I can also see a pop of red on the cheeks. Camera compression keeps doing us dirty.
Thank you! Iโm so glad itโs a little visible I think my camera and the lighting in my residence doesnโt do so well I might try going outside next time that could be neat. I appreciate it โค๏ธ @danielledanielle
Your blush looks great, @peculiarzmakeup ! ๐ I love your lipstick too!๐
Thank you so much ๐ I appreciate it ๐งกโค๏ธ๐ @Titian06
Sunset bush with a bold red lip, that's a stunning combo! @peculiarzmakeup Did you get this bold and beautiful pout from DM's lip and cheek palette? ๐
Thank you so much! I actually got a little Fenty red lip in an Ipsy bag itโs so pretty itโs called Semi-Matte I normally am not a red lippie gal but I really loved this one! The cheeks are DMB you got a great eye ๐ @CynthieLu
Ahhh, I'm on target this week! Going to try blontour tonight @danielledanielle, and also during this coming week. Going to squirrel through my stash for a couple of options for colors and formulations.
@itsfi, hurray! I'm thinking of showdown this week for Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge , so I need to figure out which blushes I want to on against each other. One is bound to be a Nars.
Apparently, past self was thinking of NARS Talc-Free Powder Blush Dolce Vita โ 888 and DIOR Rosy Glow Blush 020 Mahogany . Past self knows what she was talking about
@danielledanielle, your past self deserves a pat on the back. That pairing will be / is gorgeous. Rich with fall feels!
Sunset Blush ๐
I used:
๐งกDanessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed - Matte Color for Cheek & Lip Bellini
And tools:
My clean hands along with Beautyblender Beautyblenderยฎ pro one pro beautyblender
I used a dot of each blush on my cheeks in a gradient from lightest to deepest and blended with my sponge and fingers.
Lightest was my innermost shade and deepest towards my temples.
And because the timing was right and it crossed my mind ๐ I took a bonus shot with some sunlight coming in the windows ๐ ๐ I was not this orange irl, the sun light just had a really great vibe.
๐งก๐๐งก
Gorgeous sunset blush look, Iโve been eyeing those DMB blushies they are so pretty, this is such a stunning look ๐ผ @CynthieLu
That's really pretty! @CynthieLu
Extra kudos on technique here! I usually gravitate towards powdered blush for this, so knowing it can be done with a cream ๐๐ฝ @CynthieLu
Thanks! I find creams so blendable, working with more than one is like mixing finger paints, it all played together pretty smoothly @danielledanielle ๐จ
I'm the opposite, I think doing a ombre with powder would be much trickier, I've never tried it. I should thou, easier you say? ๐ค
I wonder if we find the opposite easier because of skin types @CynthieLu ? Although my cheeks are more on the dry side in a particular spot, powders just tend to be more forgiving for me and I know how to diffuse them (most of the time) to get the look I'm going for. Creams are tricky for me because they lift in that dry spot!
Also with powders, you can do the "double dip" motion that @sister13 came up with, which helps a lot with blending
That could be it @danielledanielle creams and liquids do behave nicer and sit nicer for me.
With that technique, Double Dip I haven't really, thou I've heard it referenced a few times now.
Edit: I knew I read about it somewhere before and just scrolled through your original post and found it, I could totally see trying this! Thanks for pointing that out ๐
