The Danessa Myricks Beauty Thread

Unless I’m mistaken, we don’t yet have a thread dedicated to this amazing brand and Founder/CEO, Danessa Myricks. She launched her line at Sephora in February 2021. I have been so impressed with everything I’ve tried from her brand! I have been following her on Instagram for many years prior to that and was so excited for her to come to my favorite beauty retailer, Sephora. As a makeup artist, she always seems so genuine, warm and positive, and her line was founded on inclusivity and creativity.

On her website, she has instructional videos, some free and some for subscribers or purchase. She does incredible looks with color, but I’ve always been impressed with her complexion looks on all skin colors, tones, and textures. I started following her when I was working part time as a makeup artist at Sephora and I wanted to become more familiar with makeup colors on darker skin tones.

My first purchases from her line were the Colorfix pigments, which can be used anywhere, can be mixed together, and are incredibly versatile. They come in mattes and shimmers/foils in a massive range of colors. Most recently I have absolutely fallen in love with herDanessa Myricks Beauty Lightwork Vol. IV: Transcendence Palette - Illuminating Eye & Face Pigments . It is a phenomenally stunning palette with shades that are guaranteed to turn heads!

Even though I’ve even on a foundation no buy, I couldn’t resist her Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Serum Foundationand Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Glow Serum with Hyaluronic Acid & Niacinamide .

@WinglessOne, yeah, I am more invested in the serum.  I like the little face map included in the promo pics.  Interesting to use it all over, maybe I'll give that a try myself, especially if it's a true powder finish.  It'd be a boon for non makeup days.

My dry skin is quite curious about Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Moisture Repair Balm Serum with Hyaluronic Acid and Squalane 1.41 ... 

The other release isn't for my needs or skin type.

What are your thoughts on these?

They both look interesting @CynthieLu.   I kind of look at them as what was needed to make the blurring balm work for non-oily types, and the yummy serum work for oily types.

On her IG Teach me Tuesday, Danessa M. highlighted her two new Yummy Skin products coming out: Water Powder Serum and a Moisturizing Balm! She’s so dang adorable! Can’t wait for these to come out!

On Monday, Dec. 11 at 9 AM ET at Danessa’s TikTok shop (DanessaMyricksBeauty), Lightwork III (full size and mini) and Lightwork IV will be available again. Only on Monday, and only via TikTok, unfortunately. 

I assume everyone on Danessa’s mailing and/or SMS list already knows, otherwise I’d have posted this much earlier. 😄 But just in case no one’s heard yet: if you reeeeally want one of those Lightwork palettes, this is your last chance. I expect them to sell out VERY FAST, so best of luck to anyone who tries to grab one!

I wish they gave us more notice for these things. I would have saved up and budgeted for this. Now I'm currently incredibly torn.

@CynthieLu  I hear you. I considered trying to get another IV to gift away but 1) I kinda hate TikTok* and 2) I won’t realistically be available at 8 AM CT to do this. Had I known even just a couple days earlier, I could’ve carved out some time and readjusted/shuffled my gift budget for this. If you do decide to try, I hope you succeed! I understand being very torn about it, though. 

*TikTok’s user interface sends my UX/usability design fail meter into tilt mode. 😂 I know all the cool kids love it but I cringe whenever I try to use it—and that’s before I have to wade through, um, *questionable* content to reach what I’m looking for. I don’t use TikTok’s app or site unless I absolutely must. So I wish Danessa was selling these palettes on Instagram instead. I mean, Instagram also has issues, but at least it’s more user friendly. And I’ll end this mini rant before I start rambling in detail about the design woes of various social media platforms. 🙃

@WinglessOne I am not on the Tik Tok either unless I have to be, I do find it just wierd to use. But here I am on my break at work trying to see if I can figure it out enough to use it today. 😅 But I really shouldn't lol. Buuttt I really do wish I had last year's Light Work, well see how I handle the day.

I'm also wearing "It Girl" lightly on my cheeks and lips. She's very pigmented so you can easily turn this color up to full blast but for this I just went with a light flush of pink 🩷
