THE VISEART THREAD

~ Updated Feb 7th 2019 ~

Thought I'd start a thread just for Viseart since so many of us LOVE them. Heart

I love to encourage a small brand as opposed to a brand where you pay for the name. The eye shadow quality can't be beat!

Price breakdown for those interested

Spoiler

Saw this on Facebook a while back and thought I'd add it here.

A 12 color Viseart Eyeshadow Palette is $80 USD (before pro discount). Each eyeshadow pan is 2 grams and valued at approx. $6 ($3.00 per gram).

MAC has reduced the price of their single eyeshadows refills from $10 USD to $6 USD each. So 12 colors at the new reduced price would be $72 USD (before pro discount). Add the $8 USD empty palette to store them and we're back to $80 USD.

EXCEPT: Each MAC eyeshadow pan is only 1.3 grams ($4.62 per gram). You're getting only 15.6 grams of product, as opposed to the 24 grams of eyeshadow in the Viseart palette. That's a loss of over 8 grams of product.

FINAL ANALYSIS:
It would cost $119 USD for MAC to duplicate the Viseart palette (24 grams of MAC eyeshadow at $4.62 per gram and $8 for the palette).

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

I've worn my minx palette 3 times and I have to say it's so pretty and easy to work with.

I will say that on the day I wore it out in the heat (sporting event) my eyeshadow was GONE in 4-5 hrs.  I used my usual primer that has never forsaken me...LOL...and after I got hot and a bit sweaty it looked like I had nothing on.

I now have the larger regular palette and I've used it a couple of times, but not out in the heat yet.

I'm going to be so sad if these shadows don't hold up in the heat.  I LOVE SUMMER!

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

Yeah, that happened to me as well after a couple of hours. It was also the hottest day we've had recently though and I was out running chores for a while and have pretty oily lids to begin with. I'm reserving my judgment for this palette until I've tested it more.

What did you think of the quality of Minx otherwise?

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

@MK89 I don't know if I was imagining it, but it seemed like the shimmer shades weren't as pigmented as ones in the large palettes have been.

I don't know if it's because I didn't use a primer.  I'm going to try this palette again with a primer and see if that helps with the wear time and pigmentation.

It's just really weird since I've never had to wear primer with any of the other 7 palettes I own.  😞

How did you feel about the quality of it?

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

@Mochapj I thought I was imagining it too! I only have one other shimmer palette by them (Paris Nudes), and the formula of the shimmers in Minx don't seem to be as soft, buttery and pigmented as they are in that one. I always use a primer (how do you not!!) but seeing your post about Cashmere above is making me wonder if I should try without primer for blendability purposes. Honestly though, idk if my oily lids could take it 😛

The formula for all the Theory palettes is totally new (I saw Viseart post that either on my insta account or their own)

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

@MK89 I have bridal, Paris and sultry for shimmer palettes and minx definitely performed differently than any of them.

honestly the primer thing with the larger palettes was completely accidental when I got my first Viseart.  It worked so well without primer that I continued not to use it (even though I use primer for every other brand of shadow).  On the rare occasions I have used the large palettes with primer (also accidentally), I always have the blending issue.

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

@Mochapj I wonder why they decided to play with the formula. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I'll try them without primer sometime, you've got me curious about it now

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

Probably $$$ and ease of production.

i take the launch of these minis to mean they want to reach a broader audience at a lower price point.

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

Thx for the update! Ugs, I didn't expect it'd happen but pls let us know how it goes with primer

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

@Mochapj Hmm..didnt expect viseart shadows to do this..I hope results are better with primer. Do you think you could try next time with only one eye primed and see if this happens again. Even if you were running about, generally thats like a typical workday of 8/9 hrs for some and for the shadow to move around like this is not cool. I cant imagine what would happen in the summer heat eek..

That being said Im sure I still want this just for that copper shade and will use glitter glue/primer if need be 😄

Edit: that blush is still going strong and looking lovely with the natural glow 🙂

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

@Anewxa Next time I use this palette I will try it with primer to see if that works.

with cashmere tomorrow I'm going to a thing, so I'll probably just use primer to make sure it lasts.  I'll try cashmere without primer when I'm not going somewhere.

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

Sure thanks no hurry 🙂

I will be looking forward to what look you come up with cashmere tomorrow though 😉

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

Got my new toy — Cashmere — yesterday! Love it! I will try to use it today and post later. But in the meantime, I did swatches of Viseart's Cashmere and Tom Ford's Nude Dip to let you compare. I know @Mochapj has some, but I am far pastier than she is. 😉

VIS_TF3.jpg

As you can see, the Viseart is far more compact than TF and has a magnetic closure. For just being a wrap-around, it still feels pretty solid and substantial. Lighter in weight than TF, too.

VIS_TF1.jpg

Inside comparison.

VS is Viseart Shimmer; VM is Viseart Matte

VIS_TF2.jpg

The pasty swatches! Yes, VM1 really does blend into my skin. Completely. The colors are very similar but with subtle differences. TF is a bit more shimmery and the colors have a more peachy/pinky undertone to them. Nude Dip is definitely warmer than the Viseart. Quality is extremely similar, easy application with both. That goes not only for swatches on my arm. I had to try the Viseart out on my eyes yesterday when the palette arrived. If anything, I found these Viseart colors to be even more buttery and pigmented than their previous palettes. Blending was a dream.

VIS_TF4.jpg

In more subdued light so the shimmer doesn't interfere so much with the colors.

Ok, so we all know I'm a big Viseart fan. But I have to say at almost half the price, with a greater number and more variety of colors (shimmers and mattes), at the very least equal quality, a more compact package, and no little tools no one uses anyway... I think Viseart wins the competition. These definitely deserve a closer look!

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

Are you on Viseart payroll Jozkid? Smiley Tongue Because you should be. Beautiful swatches! Thx for the comparison:)

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

Oh @blackkitty2014 I wish! I would have ALL the Viseart then!

I have to say, it was really hard trying to get pictures of all the shimmery stuff so that it didn't all just look like one big glare. This swatch pic stuff is hard! 😄

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

The cashmere seems like a mashup of nude dip and silvered topaz to me.

Personally I think I prefer cashmere because nude dip is too metallic for my taste.

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

I feel the same way. I like Nude Dip, but it is a whole lotta shimmer. I like shimmer, but not for a whole look. It's just not flattering on me. I prefer a bit of matte to add more definition and tone things down.

I don't have Silvered Topaz. I had to swallow hard with the price when I picked up Nude Dip! 😄

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

I agree with your thoughts, joz 🙂 I noticed they blended particularly well on my eyelids this morning.

And yes... VM1 blended into my skin, as well!

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

I swatched all three Theory palettes this morning - I'll share the pictures along with some preliminary thoughts.

All swatches are either 1 swipe or 2 swipes.

Cashmere (left/wrist) and Chroma (right/elbow)

Note that the two lightest cashmere shades are trickier to see on me in photos - they're a very close match for my skin tone haha.

Minx:

IMG_0129.JPG

  • Cashmere is the most wearable, everyday palette of the three for me. The shades are lighter/mid-toned and less dark, so there's less contrast against my skin. I also love the mix of grays/brown beiges in this one.
  • I love Chroma more than I anticipated. I was afraid it would be too dark/navy/black but it isn't. The two lightest shades are gorgeous. I think this one would mix well with Cashmere.
  • Minx is lovely. It had the two nicest shades to swatch, and the worst shade. The lightest matte shade in it was more powdery/stiffer for me (although still better than most other brands' light matte shades) - it just wasn't quite as nice as the other light shades in other palettes. And the two dark shimmers/metallics are so rich and pigmented - they just glide on with full pigment!

I'm wearing Cashmere today, so I can hopefully update thoughts on the performance soon. So far, these are very good.

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

I feel ya on the light shades blending into your skin! See post above yours! 😄

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

They're all so beautiful!

i decided to try mine without primer today since I can wear the FS palettes without it.  I want to make sure the quality is the same.

Re: THE VISEART THREAD

I'm doing the same 🙂 I find the mattes in particular are better without primer, for some reason..
