Thought I'd start a thread just for Viseart since so many of us LOVE them. ![]()
I love to encourage a small brand as opposed to a brand where you pay for the name. The eye shadow quality can't be beat!

Price breakdown for those interested
Saw this on Facebook a while back and thought I'd add it here.
A 12 color Viseart Eyeshadow Palette is $80 USD (before pro discount). Each eyeshadow pan is 2 grams and valued at approx. $6 ($3.00 per gram).
MAC has reduced the price of their single eyeshadows refills from $10 USD to $6 USD each. So 12 colors at the new reduced price would be $72 USD (before pro discount). Add the $8 USD empty palette to store them and we're back to $80 USD.
EXCEPT: Each MAC eyeshadow pan is only 1.3 grams ($4.62 per gram). You're getting only 15.6 grams of product, as opposed to the 24 grams of eyeshadow in the Viseart palette. That's a loss of over 8 grams of product.
FINAL ANALYSIS:
It would cost $119 USD for MAC to duplicate the Viseart palette (24 grams of MAC eyeshadow at $4.62 per gram and $8 for the palette).
yeah the pic is close but not it... it's like "muted" in color.
I want to pick up a few of the Viseart palettes during the sale this week and I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure out which ones to get. I started out planning to get Dark Mattes and Sultry Muse, and after days of looking at swatches and watching videos and reviews I'm leaning towards Cool Mattes, Bridal Satin and Paris Nudes...
I already have Neutral Mattes and love it. I don't have a ton of other palettes because I've given most of my old ones away since the shadows irritated my (very sensitive) eyes. So aside from Viseart Neutral Mattes, the only other shadows I have and use are Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist's Palette, some LM singles (Cafe Au Lait, Coffee Ground, Topaz and Sable) and MUFE Artist Volume 1 Nudes Palette.
I have very fair skin with neutral/cool undertones and typically wear mostly neutrals, frequently reaching for rose gold or coppery shades. However, I also like purples and am trying to get more into greys. I feel like Cool Mattes would be a good one to get because I don't have many cool toned matte eye shadows (especially when it comes to neutral/brown shades). I'm drawn to Dark Mattes because the colors look so pretty, but realistically I don't think I would use most of them (especially the blues and greens). I prefer to use dark shadows only in the crease and outer v with brighter shadows in the inner third and mid-tones on the rest of the lid. I know I definitely want to get some satin or shimmery shades, and I was initially really drawn to the Sultry Muse palette (mostly because of the coppery and rosy brown shades). One of the reasons I really started to reconsider getting Sultry Muse is that 4 of the shadows have micro-glitter, and while I do love glitter it has a tendency to irritate my eyes if there's any fallout.
I can't justify getting more than 3 of the palettes. Paris Nudes just looks so wearable, even if the shades are more muted, and I really want some lighter shimmery colors for the inner third to brighten things up. Bridal Satins seems to have a lot of shades that would be good for that, and the purples and coppery/peachy shade look amazing.
Sorry this is so long, but like I said I've spent hours researching all of the palettes and I could really use some input from people who own these other palettes. Thanks!
It's funny seeing your post and lachaton's below talking about your coloring and the neutral mattes palette.
I just got mine last week so I've been wearing it all this week, and I do *not* love it. When I wear it, I feel like it would look much better on someone who is more fair with those cool pink/blue undertones, as opposed to me -- I'm more yellow and green.
I'm sorry to hear that you don't like your neutral mattes palette! For the price of these you should really love it. In the past I've had neutral shades that just made me look sick or tired so I can definitely empathize. It's really too bad that they don't stock these in the stores so people can try them out first. Buying an $80 palette is hard to do sight unseen. At least Sephora has a good return policy...
I got mine on sale at Ricky's NY so no returns for me! It's all good. I just wanted to check out the quality and see if it was worth the hype and now I know I'll be sticking with my MUFE shadows. 😄
I'm sorry it didn't work out for you!
Can I ask, how does the Viseart quality compare to MUFE? I'm currently debating whether to get the Neutral Mattes or the Artist Vol. 1 🙂
I love the MUFE shadows more. I just feel like they're more pigmented and blend better. I have Vol. 1, and there are a lot of shimmer shades in there, not a lot of mattes.
I think what I love most about MUFE is that I've been able to pick my own colors and that I can get light brown matte shadow in a cool, neutral, or warm tone.
What I'm saying is that I love the selection MUFE offers and if we're comparing pre made palettes to palettes I'm not sure there's a huge difference? Although I think on the texture end I find the MUFE shadows to be silkier. The Viseart ones kick up a lot of dust when you dip your brush in there. It's a bit chalky IMO.
I'm sorry, that really stinks! Maybe you'll be able to trade or sell it down the road?
Not the end of the world by any means! I might trade it or I might just hang on to it. I'm not a MUA, but I might keep it in case I ever do a fair girl's makeup. I think it would work much better on someone with pale, creamy skin. My bff is pretty much translucent so I might use it on her.
I have all of them and quite like them. My colouring is similar to yours, as well. The only one I don't really use often is editorial brights. I find Dark Mattes a little trickier to wear because the shades are so dark on my skin, but it's still great to have.
If you have the MUFE palette, I'm not sure I'd recommend Sultry Muse. I feel like those two are the most similar (high shimmer, with neutral shades). But Sultry Muse is really nice.
I use Cool Mattes regular. Definitely one of my faves. And after that, I use Paris Nudes and Bridal Satin. I find they're more wearable palettes for me, since Paris is so muted and lovely and Bridal allows me to add pops of colour when I need it, without looking clownish.
Thanks, lachaton. I do see what you mean about the MUFE palette and Sultry Muse being somewhat similar (especially when it comes to the lightest shades). I think I may still get Sultry Muse though, just because when I started looking at the shimmer Viseart palettes that's the one I was drawn to the most, and the MUFE doesn't have the pretty coppery shades that the Viseart has. Bridal Satin will probably be the next Viseart palette I get, though!
I adore the cool mattes palette. And based on your coloring, it sounds like a good match. It is a subtle palette so if you want to really branch out ...well...it might not be the one.
I got Paris Nudes over Sultry Muse. They're both gorgeous but PN has more subtle effects. If you get cool mattes you might like SM. I don't think you can go wrong between the two so I'd go with the one that appeals to you based on the shade.
Bridal Satins is the one I use the least. The colors are super pretty and it does have more actual color than most of the others (obviously not Editorial Brights). For me it's the hardest to use as it doesn't have obvious looks. This one is the one that reminds me that Viseart palettes are "pro" palettes and meant to be used as part of a kit. I know others love this one, and I've seen some BTers declare it their favorite. But based on what you already own, this one is a departure. That's either a good thing and makes it the one to get or...you won't use it as much.
So far, there isn't a Viseart palette I've seen that I don't love. You can't go wrong...it's just a preference thing.
@meganlisa Great minds think alike!
Thanks for the input, Megan! I was hoping you would see this and comment...your YouTube videos on Cool Mattes and Paris Nudes are actually what got me more interested in them! Can I ask why you think I'd like Sultry Muse more if I get CM? Everything I've read says that SM is very warm toned, so do you just mean for the variety?
I'm so torn over these because ideally I would just get them all lol but I just placed a big Hakuhodo order for more brushes so I'm trying to not go too crazy! I'll probably pick up the other palettes in the November sale so right now I just need to figure out which ones will keep me content for the next 6 months or so.
Anyway, I do see what you mean about Bridal Satins not having a lot of obvious looks. I guess that doesn't bother me too much because lately I'm having a lot of fun using multiple palettes when I do eye looks. I just got a vanity and have everything set up now so I actually have room to do my makeup instead of just bringing things into the bathroom. But with BS it's funny because I never even considered it until recently, I always sort of wrote it off because of the brighter colors but all of the sudden it's looking oddly appealing. But at $80 I kind of worry that it may end up being one of those palettes that is nice to look at but doesn't get used much...
@kthrace You got it right, I was thinking SM and CM for the variety. I kind of want them all too but ...I have so much eyeshadow!
Regarding Bridal Satin, I got my editorial brights at IMATS in 2015. One of the Muse Beauty founders taught me what he called the "sandwich" method. You dot the brush in a neutral, then a color, then a neutral again and apply. It adds a new complexity and undertone (so you have a grey blue, or a rose taupe). That's one way to start incorporating more color. Or, you could mix palettes. That makes Bridal Satin more everyday (for me; I know others who list that one as their favorite).
I guess the big decision is whether you want to play is safe/neutral or add more color and/or shimmer.
They're all so pretty. Can't wait to hear what you decide and get!
And thanks for saying that about the videos. They're work and so it's great to hear that they help.
Thanks, Megan. Right now I'm planning to get Cool Mattes, Sultry Muse and Paris Nudes. After thinking about it a bit it seems like I could create close approximations to a lot of the colors in Bridal Satin (aside from the bright purple, which while beautiful I wouldn't use often) using the sandwich method you described and the various palettes. CM will give me some good blue and purple shades to mix with the satin and shimmery shades in SM and PN, and between SM and PN I think I'll have enough peachy, coppery and rosy brown shimmer shades to work with, in addition to the lighter and brighter inner corner shades. It just seems like those three palettes will give me the most wearable options that I'm realistically likely to use.
Anyway, I do love your videos and subscribed to your channel a while back. 🙂 Your videos have been very helpful because you're so honest and don't seem to give in to the hype like so many other people on YouTube do. I first ran across your channel when I was looking for reviews of Clinique Nude Cheek Pop and it helped me decide to buy it. I also recently bought the Dior Pink Glowing Gardens Illuminating Powder largely based on your review!
@kthrace That glowing gardens pink is gorgeous! Appreciate the support. I try to be honest...
I love what you're getting. I keep eyeing sultry muse and will likely break down at some point. Viseart does the colors we actually wear (not just stare at in pan) so beautifully. Love them. I'd be so curious to hear when you decide which is your favorite!
I'll definitely let you know what I think! I'm just hoping that none of them sell out before I can get them. I may set an alarm on my phone to wake me up at 3am (eastern) when the code is supposed to activate. If my daughter wasn't home from school this whole week on spring break I would probably just stay up, but of course now that she can actually sleep in she's been getting up early...
@kthrace my kids always distract me from these sorts of things! I explain to them...how important it is...but no...
Funny though, when I got those Tom Ford lipsticks my daughter suddenly took an interest.
They're all good. You have that comfort...kids...viseart palettes...all of it...
Haha, I know what you mean! My daughter is young (a few months shy of 5) and though she's already become interested in makeup she doesn't really care that I'm researching Viseart palettes when she suddenly decides that she must have my undivided attention. She's pretty good overall though and thankfully has understood that mommy's makeup and brushes are not to be touched. I got her a play makeup set off Amazon that looks realistic and gave her a few of my old cheap brushes to play with. So that's kept her pretty busy and now whenever we're going out and I say I have to put on my makeup she gets all excited and says, "I have to put on my makeup too!"
For the longest time I had all of my makeup stuff put away where she couldn't reach it and she's finally to the age where I can trust her more. I've thoroughly explained that these things are very expensive and if she ever plays with them and breaks things she will be in so.much.trouble lol.
Anyway, I'm still going back and forth over the Bridal Satin palette, though now I'm considering dropping Paris Nudes for it rather than Sultry Muse. Maybe I should just buy all four... Four palettes seems so excessive though, and part of me thinks if I'm going to get those four I might as well get Dark Mattes too! Ugh, I need to restrain myself!
