Sephora has been carrying a few By Kilian fragrances for a while now, but with the release of the Holiday Discovery Set KILIAN Paris Travel Spray Discovery Set I’m hopeful even more fragrances and other beauty items will soon be sold here as well!

Next up in the Discovery set is Black Phantom. This 2017 gourmand should be right up my alley since I love coffee, chocolate, and booze in equal measure, but somehow it’s all too sweet for my liking. The burnt caramel/almond/vanilla make this scent wander into Prada Candy terrain, and that’s definitely not my bag. If you like syrupy sweet fragrances then this one might be great for you, but I’ll need to find something to pair it with in order to enjoy it more.

Update: I layered Black Phantom with YSL Black Opium and Carolina Herrera Good Girl, and wow! The coffee notes all came together to make a sweet gourmand concoction that I actually loved. Everybody kept asking me what I was wearing, so I may have to add this one to my collection after all.

Bamboo Harmony

Starting my exploration of the Discovery set with Bamboo Harmony. I love this clean, fresh tea and neroli scent! It’s an easy-breezy fragrance that reminds me a lot of Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au Thé Blanc, except that Bamboo Harmony has more floral undertones. “It smells like flowers but it’s not flowery,” is how my husband describes it! It’s a fresh out of the shower vibe without being overtly soapy, which makes it very wearable and pleasant.

Is it ground breaking or challenging? No. Will it stop people dead in their tracks to ask you what you’re wearing? Not likely. Does it have decent staying power and make you feel comfy-cozy for hours and hours? You betcha. It won’t replace my beloved Jo Malone Earl Grey & Cucumber as my favorite tea scent, but the portable size and gorgeous atomizer make it easy to carry around for a refreshing pick-me-up!

@LCResz Like you, I wish there were more product sold through Sephora. I have always wondered why some fragrances are sold through Sephora and others are not! What are your faves? I enjoy Intoxicated and Musk Oud 🌹

@pocketvenus I’m a sucker for all of Kilian’s Oud iterations. Voulez-vous is also quite lovely. The only reason I haven’t gotten any full size bottles is because the scents don’t last on my skin.

@LCResz Ohhh, like you I have the exact same experience. The ouds were fantastic but just didn't have staying power. I really enjoyed the really paired down one that was like super inky and spare. I think it was called Pure Oud or Extreme Oud. The Incense Oud was also great. So sad the whole line got discontinued but glad Musk Oud survived the cut. It is such a great one. I always get compliments wearing it. They really should include it in their sets sometime because I think people would get hooked.

@ragdoll4mom Same, but I suspect Malle would rather be flayed alive than see Sephora carry his products! He loathes this modern model of perfume distribution.
