Styling Products for Short Hair

Hello everyone. I’m new to haircare, specifically styling. I used to get short, male cuts and kept things simple with shampoo and conditioner (But not 2-in-1! I used separate ones.) For styling, I brushed it into place and headed out the door. Sometimes a bit of hairspray or gel to keep it in place when it got a little unruly or I was going somewhere fancy.  

I occasionally present as femme and would love to eventually do so without a wig. I’m starting to grow it out into an androgynous pixie cut. From what I can see, I have type 1 hair. It’s straight, thick, and refuses to do anything but stick straight out perpendicular to my scalp. My scalp can get dry since my skin in general is dry but my hair never feels dry, frizzy, or otherwise damaged.

I’d love some styling product recommendations. I’m fine with trying sprays, gels, pastes, waxes, etc… and shopping at either Sephora or the drugstore. I prefer something that feels light and lets my hair move a little as I do unconsciously run my hand through hair through out the day and then catch myself doing it.

Thanks for trying anyway @UNMMissNewYork! I’ll check out their product line up and see if there’s anything there for me. 

Also, a quick tip for getting around BIC: Use @ To tag people when you reply. Sephora doesn’t always automatically inform people when someone replies. This is the best workaround we have. You can also use it to tag other threads. # works the similarly but for products.
