Post in Best Hair Ever

My hair care advice!

Not many subjects I feel qualified to give good advice onโ€ฆ but hair is one!

Story time. Five years back I had super long hair and decided to bleach it myself. This was an epic fail. Tried to correct it, another fail. Ended up at the only walk in salon I knew that did color 9AM the next morning. I had the worst breakage, but I was in love with the blond so I kept going!

Fast forward a couple of years, I was still blonde but my hair was in terrible condition. I had split ends galore and it was always getting knotty. I started seriously thinking I needed some type of hair rehab. Until now, Iโ€™d almost exclusively been using supermarket products. I started splurging on the odd mask, but still kept my supermarket shampoo.
Then about 2 years back the salons started saying they wouldnโ€™t bleach my hair unless I signed some sort of waiver. I needed a big chop and some serious investment. So, I started investing.
Over the last 2 years, Iโ€™ve tried most products on the market. My hair is back to being long, itโ€™s totally bleached and itโ€™s actually pretty healthy. Here are my tips for anyone interested:

1. Nothing happens overnight. I see ads for k18 and Olaplex that imply total transformation rapidly. In my experience, it takes a consistent routine over time.
2. Olaplex is amazing! I love their shampoo and conditioner and supplement this with olaplex 3. This has been the most consistent part of my routine so I have to give it credit! Although, I do find the 4P shampoo too purple for my hair and the 6 feels a little waxy once my hair dries. All their others are great!

3. I use k18 periodically, usually if Iโ€™m having bleach added Iโ€™ll use that for the washes after. I often shampoo, put k18 in, wait, then put a hair mask on and leave the whole lot in for an hour or so.
4. Post shampoo and conditioner products are gold. I love Morrocan oil, and the Kerastase leave inโ€™s. Iโ€™ve been alternating between their 8hr night serums. I also alternate between the heat protectants/ leave ins from their chroma absolute and blond absolute ranges.

Hope this helps! Iโ€™ve done so much experimenting over the years. I now have hair Iโ€™m really proud of so wanted to share what Iโ€™ve learned!
