Hair straightener (smell)

How to I prevent my hair from getting that flat iron smell, I’ve used Amika and a chi straightener. Is it because the heat is too high or what?

@csmallz Which Chi are you using? The original that just has the on/off button?

I work with Chi tools daily. You can use the "best smelling" iron protector however if you do not clean your iron you will get that weird iron smell in your hair (that goes for all brands). 

Please google how to clean your flat iron, I guarentee you do not need a new iron spray, just a good cleaning.

I’ve never smelled anything from flatironing....definitely try turning down the heat. Start at the lowest setting. If you don’t get it smooth, turn it up in 25 degree increments until it is satisfactory. And of course don’t keep going over the same piece. One slow pass should do it.

@csmallz Since you're using product before heat, youre most likely smelling the product burning off, rather than your hair and is normal. Anyways the heat shouldn't be up extremely high, to begin with.
