Im suddenly seeing a lot more of my hair coming out than usual. I read on line that this happens at the end of winter, any ideas?

If it’s a lot go to the doc just to get your blood levels checked out, especially if it continues for more than a month.

take care of the hair you already have, brush gently before showers, use loose protective styles (braids or loose low pony)
