Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I recently got my lashes done at a Sephora and it was suuuuuch a good experience that I will go back, get lashes again, just to chit chat with the associates there.

I narrowed it down to two choices:

Velour Lashes Effortless - No Trim - Natural Lash Collection Understated(I think)

SEPHORA COLLECTION Vegan False Eyelashes Charming   (obvs winner) ... Way nice and way nice price😁😉

1000008769.jpg

They stayed and slayed. This was a four hour wear. It's $15 USD for the service + cost of lashes.  The SC lashes are very adorable, affordable and as my Syane (shout-out to Sephora Meatpacking) said, "they eatttt"

I highly encourage getting lashes, especially if you struggle with them.  I described what I wanted, and got tips and tricks that allowed me to do this on my own.

What I learned

  1. Tapered out shape for almond shaped eyes gives you all the drama without overwhelming your eye
  2. Cut the outside, not the inside so you don't ruin your lashes if you're new to this or just find it challenging
  3. Look down when applying , which seems intuitive, but 9/10 I go straight and straight into the mirror.  Having a mirror and looking down gives me a higher success rate.

Also, I got in store goodies!

And, for the next three weeks, booking a service earns you 100 pts.  Plus, the points on your purchase.  🤌🏽🤌🏽

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Halloween 2023 - Last year, I booked an appointment for the "Ultimate Glam" for this eye look. The spider and spiderweb detailing I only had done to the one side, but the rest of the look, including the lashes were done to both eyes.

Tips:

  • If you want an elaborate or complicated design like this, highly recommend consulting with the makeup artist before booking your services to ensure that you will be able to get the look (or comparable one) that you are going for. And see below 👇
  • If you have a photo of the look or design you want, bring in the photo
  • If the look you are going for is not as complicated, you can either share the look you you want when booking the services in the "special requests" section. It won't guarantee you get the exact look, but this will help to set expectations and make sure you and your makeup artists are on the same page. If you're not sure whether you're desired look is one deemed elaborate or complicated, my recommendation would be to check in with the makeup artist before booking your service to determine whether it can be done and also whether it can be done (along with the rest of your makeup) in the 90 minutes set aside for the Ultimate Glam service.

FYI:

  • If you would like lashes applied during the Ultimate Glam service, the cost of the lashes is in addition to the cost of the service.
  • The makeup artist will, at the end of the service, go over with you the products he/she/they used and ask whether you would like to purchase anything. Whether you do so or not is up to you.
  • If you like one or more of the products used, but are not ready to purchase, they can email you a list of the products. You can also take a photo of the products.
  • At the time of payment, you will have the option to add a tip for the makeup artist.

Some makeup artists still have available time slots for Halloween, the weekend before Halloween. This won't count toward the Level Up challege for points, but it's a great service. No such service for me this year as Halloween 2025 is shaping up to be a low key event. @danielledanielle

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@itsfi  Would you please share what you used to fill in your brows in this picture?  Thank you!

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@Ispend2much6, if I'm not using just a brow gel, I go for ashy blonde or taupe brow pencil. I had/have a Chanel brow pencil that I brought in with me for the appointment and the makeup artist matched it to ABH Ash Blonde, which has been renamed to Taupe. She used the pencil and pomade for this work.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Great share @itsfi and with Halloween coming up too, it's a fun idea!

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@CynthieLu, the Ultimate Glam service, and the other makeup application ones as well, are great options for Halloween and other holidays or events.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I have never gone for one, but I think it would be really cool to give them a picture of a look you wanted and see it come to life. I would hope I could pick up some application and makeup tips during the service too. 😉

The next time I have an event to go to I'm going to consider this @itsfi it seems like it would be fun.  Reading about your experience and everyone else's makes these services far less intimidating to me. 💓🙏

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@CynthieLu, the makeup beauty services can be a lot of fun. Over the years, I've gotten the Feature Focus, Full Face and Ultimate Glam services. Feature Focus is, as the name suggest, makeup application focusing on one feature - it's the most minimalist and simple of the three makeup services - simple eye look or cheeks or lips, etc. Full Face is just that as well - it doesn't include lashes and if I'm remembering right, it allows for focusing on two features with the look/style being simple-to-moderate. Ultimate Glam includes lash application if you'd like (but you would have to pay for the lashes themselves in addition to the service) and more complicated or a more detailed eye look.

It's fun, too, to pick up some tips & tricks. I've been fortunate that, for the most part, I've had makeup artists who I've connected with - we've chatted about all sorts of things and shared thoughts and advice on products, skincare, hair care, etc. I sometimes ask about a couple of things that they do as well, to help me try to recreate a look at home. Oftentimes when they know I'm interested, they'll give me a mirror to hold and when they can, show me how they do a certain detailing, etc.

If I am wanting more tips, trick or to learn about an application technique, I'd consider going for the Beauty Lesson service. A couple, a few years ago (?) when the cut crease was super popular, I went in for one of the other makeup services and had thought about going in at another time for the Beauty Lesson service with that makeup artist (to learn to do a softer cut crease on hooded eyes). Time got away from me, life happened and I never got around to doing it, but there are moments where I consider doing a Beauty Lesson service if there's a particular makeup trend I'm interested in learning more about, especially if it's an application or technique that I have a hard time figuring out with YT videos, etc. (and let's face it, there are many a technique that fall within that category or me).

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Oooh you sort of read my mind @itsfi out of all the services I would love to take Beauty Lesson the most, I would be over the moon to learn from a professional and pick up a few tips and tricks, hopefully for my targeted concerns. But for real, learning to do a cut crease would be so fun. 🤩

I feel like for me, I would try to book the service on a quiet morning when less people we're in the store, at least for my first try. It's a little intimidating to try something new but if it wasn't as busy I think I would feel more at ease.

I appreciate you sharing your experiences, they sound like they were very enjoyable and rewarding, it takes some of the nervousness away 💕

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

This looks so well done @itsfi , how absolutely fun! You look darling, bet you were a hit! 💞

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@Sunnysmom, the makeup artist did an incredible job. I went into the store about a week before my appointment with a few photos to see if it was doable or if I was asking too much - the photos were more elaborate than this look - I wanted something simpler than the photos but still with the detailing and she delivered!

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I saw the pop up because I wanted to do "lunchtime lashes" but it was a no go.

These are great notes @itsfi , makes complete sense to use that field box that way.

Also, never thought of taking pictures of the products, I usually add them to my loves just in case, but this also rocks

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I started taking photos because it's easier to jog my memory and my loves list can get long very quickly, hahaha! And, well @danielledanielle, an opportunity to take a pic. 😂 I confess that I may sometimes arrange the products in a certain way. But I figure I did the arrangement and I consent to myself taking the photo. Ha! Oooh, I like the sound of lunchtime lashes. Have you tried any of the other services?

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I've done the Perk facial and feature focus @itsfi .  The perk facial was once a reward in the bazaar, so that's how I tried it.  It's was nice, I had no idea what it was at the time, but I remember the sensation of the tube and it was definitely interesting, but relaxing.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

This is a fun thread idea @danielledanielle 😺

I did the Face and Lip Hydra Perk Treatment this summer for the first time ever.

It was so relaxing and my skin felt amazing when I left the store. At first, it felt a little strange to have a service done right out in the open in store but my technician was really fun and put me at ease quickly. She made me feel really comfortable.

I would recommend these services to someone looking for a bit of relaxation and pampering. 💕

After the service I was given a sample of Farmacy Honey Halo Ultra-Hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer 1.7 oz/ 50 mL and a tube of lip treatment.

I had done this service while on vacation in a big city, I wish this was available at my local store. It was something I would try again to treat myself. 🎁💝

My skin after was so glowy!

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Didn’t it feel great @CynthieLu ?! I loved it too! How fun that you had both treatments! Nice nice. You look very relaxed and so cute! 😍 ( By the way, did you have to mention the lip treatment giftie or did they just offer it?! Mine didn’t. I’m kind of sad! So glad you got it!)

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

That's unfortunate @Sunnysmom  from the sounds of it they should have. I don't have the box anymore but right on the tube it has Directions: To Be Used Over Lips During Treatment And At Home.

It was the same tube she had used on me during the treatment, she put it right back in its box and said I can keep it to use at home and keep them benefits from my treatment going.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

That’s really nice @CynthieLu ! I bet the benefits will still continue! Thanks for the info. 😘

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Great idea to do it on vacation, @CynthieLu

Yeah, the perk treatment is out in the open, but I'm glad you had someone that made you comfortable.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

The Technician was fantastic, I really did appreciate her ability to make everything feel so comfortable and enjoyable. @danielledanielle I know I felt a little nervous trying this out, but I love that after it was over it's something I'd be happy to try again.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I needed to do a beauty service to complete the beauty challenge so I decided to do a brow wax. I was a little nervous because it was my first time getting one. I had a great experience! The technician was so good and it didn’t hurt at all. I think it was definitely worth $22 and I would totally do it again.
