Hair Cut Reccomendations after Brain Surgery

Long story short I had a massive aneurysm on New Years Eve that required me to be flown to Boston and have brain surgery. They had to shave the front of my head for the drain and my waist length hair got so matted in the ICU that my sister and I just cut it off shoulder length when I got to a regular room and couldn't get it to detangle with lots of Deva conditioner in the shower. Who has some ideas for what to do with what's left while this mess grows out? Before and after photos below.20191117_181303.jpg

I'm so sorry you went through that, but I'm so glad you made it through okay. I have seen some people shave off the hair near the incision and cut the other side shorter but still keep it long. It helps it grow out more evenly. Your hair is gorgeous so I'm sure you could pull it off, if you wanted to. Look up "brain surgery hairstyles" for some inspiration. Do whatever feels comfortable to you, your hair will grow back ❤️

Hi @Anonymous

I hope you are doing well and I am sorry for what you’ve been through.
From a very honest, professional perspective my best advice would be to cut the remainder into a pixie while the front has a chance to catch up in growth.
Having long hair and then unexpectedly and very traumatically having to part with some of it, is devastating. Your life was saved and that is worth much more.
Below is an example of a pixie.

Once your wounds heal, you can then (if you want) experiment with wigs.

So as it turns out they way my hair parts it very much wants to cover the shaved area which is growing in fast. I ended up with an angled bob that a bobby pin will keep in place on windy days and just for fun I had it dyed blue.20200222_135454.jpg
