Flat iron help

What are some people’s favorite flat irons? Having trouble liking ones , or I’ll look at reviews and they are really mixed. I have medium to thick hair, medium length hair. All opinions welcome

Re: Flat iron help

Flat irons depend on your hair. If your hair is fine, you want one that has a temperature control. CHI (Farouk) irons (original) have no temp gauge and can burn your hair off if they are too hot and your hair off, fade your color and dry your hair out. I you don't have red this iron is ok, if red watch it fade with every swipe of that iron.

Always use a heat or thermal spray. It will help protect from heat damage, and keep the style longer. Same with curling iron. If your hair is fine you have to use heat spray. I prefer aerosol rather than a pump spray. Iron in sections starting on the bottom and work your way to the top of your head. Hot Tools is a trusted brand too. Just make sure the plates touch and will flatten our hair. Always register your irons, manufactures will replace if it's a legit defect.

Re: Flat iron help

@Anonymous I recommend the GHD. It is my favorite of all brands I use while I was in beauty school and I still stick to that brand to use on my clients as a Licensed cosmetologist.

GHD is good for coarse, thick wavy hair.  I like the auto heat settings as it is less damaging to the hair. And it heats up so fast. I can straighten someone whole head in just 10 mins with the GHD👍🏻

Babybliss is a good brand too but I use them for someone with fine hair. I like the nano one.

RE: Flat iron help

I just bought the Drybar flat iron, and I love it. It’s the most I’ve ever spent on a flat iron. After returning a different brand that literally burned my forehead, I decided to take the plunge and purchase an iron that actually works well. It doesn’t pull at your hair and leaves it smooth and straight. It’s definitely worth the money.

Re: Flat iron help

@Anonymous babyliss is my favorite brand. I've actually had mine for 9 years of at least twice weekly use and it still works well!  A solid investment and great brand for sure

Re: Flat iron help

I love the GHD one, its pricey but right now Ulta is having a hair sale a day, and I believe the straighter will be 50% off on one of the days

Re: Flat iron help

I just try to encourage my natural curls. LOL.

Re: Flat iron help

I love my GHD but I know they are very expensive. I asked my hair stylist at one point and she suggested Hot tools as a good but more inexpensive option. I haven't tried Hot tools myself though!
