I was getting tired of digging through a tiny little drawer to get to my nail clippers, file, tweezers, etc… so I repurposed a cheap magnetic knife holder into grooming tool storage. It’s so much neater and easier to access now.
From this… 👎
To this! 👍
And that got me thinking… what beauty storage hacks or ideas do you use at home/work/school? I’d love to exchange ideas and see what you do to keep your beauty products or tools organized. 🤔
Another insomnia project - this time, I reorganized my eyeshadow palettes!
Before:
After:
The new large organizer is by Bino, and I got it at HomeGoods for $20. The sticker was a pain in the posterior and didn't want to remove completely (even after considerable time, hot water & elbow grease 😭), but luckily it's covered by the organizers & palettes on top.
I'm pretty happy with the results of this project! Granted, if (or more realistically, when) I get any more large eyeshadow palettes I will probably have to reorganize again, but that's a problem for future me 😂
Couldn't sleep last night, so I spent some time reorganizing my fragrance collection, which was getting kind of cramped (again). I pulled out all of my travel sprays and consolidated most of them in one spot instead of two, which freed up more space for my full size bottles. The remaining travel sprays are kept in the drawer of my bedside table - most of those ones are smaller/odd sizes.
Here's the majority of my travel sprays and rollerballs, in alphabetical (by brand) order, mid-organization:
Here's the final result - travel sizes, organized alphabetically by brand so it's easier for me to find the one I'm looking for:
The containers in front are pencil holder cups by Rifle Paper Co., and I got them from TJ Maxx for around $5 each. The ones in back are repurposed Glossier candle containers, which I posted about here: Reusing, Repurposing & Upcycling Candle Containers
And here's my now slightly less cramped collection of full sizes and minis:
I'm pretty happy with the results of this insomnia project! 😊 I know as my collection continues to slowly grow, I'll have to keep rethinking storage solutions, but for now, things are better.
Wow, I love your fragrance collection, @caitbird! Great job reorganizing!
Great project for a sleepless night, @caitbird , plus the gratification of the reorganization. 🥰 You have a wonderful collection of fragrances. 💕 I also keep my travel sizes in repurposed containers, but they're not as pretty as your's. 😄
@Titian06 you would never know it from how messy my room has gotten (though I am slowly working on that too 😅), but I really do enjoy reorganizing things. You're right, it's so satisfying!
Thank you! 💜
@caitbird Hooray for good reorganization! Also, good use of insomnia. I didn’t sleep last night either and spend that time changing most of my passwords (and some of my usernames). It’s a task I try to do in batches at least a couple times a year, but this year I’ve been lazy about it. Waaaay less fun and satisfying than reorganizing a fragrance collection. 😅
Also, your travel sized collection is impressive!
@WinglessOne thank you so much! I have to do that too, I keep putting it off, but that is also a good use of insomnia, haha. Maybe that will be my next late-night project!
Thanks for sharing the ideas! A clean setup makes beauty routines feel less chaotic and way more enjoyable. I'm going to revamp my vanity space and found inspiration from Modloft reviews. Their sleek, modern furniture really complements clever storage hacks like yours.
Spent some time today reorganizing my fragrance collection, which was overflowing its previous storage solutions 😅
Here are my full size and mini bottles, as well as (some of) my travel sizes (back of bottom shelf):
Sorry the lighting is not the best in these pics!
I got this 3-tiered organizer off Amazon, and it works really well to increase storage space by taking advantage of vertical space. Now I have plenty of room for all my full size perfume bottles, as well as space to expand my collection in the future.
Here are all my (many) sample vials:
This is two organizers stacked on top of each other - also got these ones from Amazon. The shallow drawers work perfectly for laying the little sample vials flat so that I can easily see and access them. I think I posted a look at the inside of one of the drawers in a previous post in this thread, back when I only had one of these organizers.
That is a beautiful fragrance collection @caitbird . Love your display
I like how you have your perfume and samples arranged, @caitbird ! The tower would be nice for my nail polish waiting to be used. (I like your crystals.)
I love it, @caitbird! I have my bottles scattered about the house and I should get them together.
@curlychiquita thank you! Mine were a mess before, I'm so happy to have them organized finally, haha!
Recently got some metal pen holders that stick onto the wall, and I'm using them to hold my double-sided makeup brushes (which were previously just lying on the bathroom counter 😬)! I stole this idea from @WinglessOne who posted about this type of pen holder storage solution further down in the thread!
(Pls ignore the fact that my brushes need to be washed 🙈)
I'm not sure yet how well this idea will work when it comes to actually using these brushes 😅 but for now I'm happy that things look much tidier and some more space has been cleared off on the counter!
