Some lighthearted Friday Fun...
We all have a product that got away. Maybe it was something LE that we couldn't acquire. Maybe our HG product was discontinued without notice. Or any number of other reasons I'm hoping people will share.
I have 2 items that got away. Some time in the late 90s I waltzed into a MAC counter and bought a specific cool toned mid intensity pink blush and Aria eyeshadow. The blush in particular haunts me. I loved it so much I panned and repurchased it 3 times. Then I went through a phase of about 4 or so years of not wearing makeup and when I started wearing it again/cleaned out my old makeup bag I threw away the compact because I thought it was too 'old' without ever making note of the name. So I have NO idea what it was called/whether they still make it any more/how to find a dupe and that makes me very sad. I've gone to the MAC store a few times to try and figure it out but nothing from the existing line looks quite right. And then Aria was my perfect, satiny neutral taupe shade. It matched my eyelids perfectly but also had a lovely sheen that almost looked like a shift. Sadly, it's long discontinued 😞 but I think I may have finally found it's equal in Chantecaille Elephant, although texturally it's different.
Do you have a story of unrequited makeup love? Please share below. Who knows, maybe someone will have suggestions for a dupe, has one to trade, etc.
If it makes you feel any better, I got the palette and don't use it very often because I find that the shades don't blend very well. If I try to make an eye look with more than two colors it all seems to become a grayish brownish blur. I thought the Modern Renaissance palette was much better!
100 percent with ya on that Master Palette. That's the one that got away for me.
Very fun thread and maybe it help some of us to get the gems we missed out.
My first one is MAC lipstick in Pander Me.I stumble on the lipswatches while searching for something else and it was love at first sight. Only to realize later that it was a LE lipstick and isn't available anymore. (Image from Lani loves)
Second is Becca arose Quartz. When it released I had a thought that pink toned highlighter won't look good on me but now after trying a few holographic highlights and watching others with my skin tone (Including you @Mochapj ) rocking it, I want it in my life but Ofcourse it is no where to find. I hope Becca repeats its tradition to release its LE goodies as permanent later on and I can get it.
Pander me looks very similar to tom ford ginger fawn.
@fatimamummy I only have a deluxe sample of Rose Quartz that I've used a couple of times but I feel like it's dark for me. If you ever want me to ship it to you just let me know 😉
Oh wow I didn't know they released DS of Rose Quartz. I will send you a PM @makeitup305
Isn't it @Titian06 ? Maybe it won't look this good on me if I finally get my hands on it or a close dupe but it is stuck in my head so I have to have it 😁
@fatimamummy I might be wrong, but Pander Me looks sort of similar to NARS Jane?
Perhaps @malday could verify that one since she has Pander Me (and I think also Jane?)
I'll look into Jane and also see if Malday can post comparison swatches of Pander me and Jane @Mochapj
@fatimamummy, I know it's not the same formula/finish type, but if you're wanting something color-wise that is similar to Pander Me, try Smashbox's Always On Liquid Lipstick in Out Loud. It's in that same burnt coral/neutral orange color family.

Thank you @lylysa I actually have Smashbox out loud and love it. I think maybe Pander Me is a bit lighter and softer. Temptalia swatches of Jane look pretty close though. I'll check that whenever I go to the store again.
Haha! That's awesome and funny that you have this shade/item already! If you get a chance, try mixing it with In Demand. it's their peachier neutral that may lighten Out Loud some but keep the creaminess of the orange.
Lol@lylysa I will mix them together to check and I think result will be pretty close to what I want.
It is such a pretty shade ! @malday Do you own Jane as well? If yes Can you please share comparison swatches of Jane and Pander Me Please?
Sure! I'll try to do that tomorrow morning when I have good lighting 🙂
I'll also compare it to Urban Decay's Uptight because I think that may be similar also.
Thank you Malday, That would be great!
