What Makeup Item Haunts You?

We all have a product that got away. Maybe it was something LE that we couldn't acquire.  Maybe our HG product was discontinued without notice.  Or any number of other reasons I'm hoping people will share.

I have 2 items that got away.  Some time in the late 90s I waltzed into a MAC counter and bought a specific cool toned mid intensity pink blush and Aria eyeshadow.  The blush in particular haunts me.  I loved it so much I panned and repurchased it 3 times.  Then I went through a phase of about 4 or so years of not wearing makeup and when I started wearing it again/cleaned out my old makeup bag I threw away the compact because I thought it was too 'old' without ever making note of the name.  So I have NO idea what it was called/whether they still make it any more/how to find a dupe and that makes me very sad.  I've gone to the MAC store a few times to try and figure it out but nothing from the existing line looks quite right.  And then Aria was my perfect, satiny neutral taupe shade.  It matched my eyelids perfectly but also had a lovely sheen that almost looked like a shift.  Sadly, it's long discontinued 😞 but I think I may have finally found it's equal in Chantecaille Elephant, although texturally it's different.

Do you have a story of unrequited makeup love?  Please share below.  Who knows, maybe someone will have suggestions for a dupe, has one to trade, etc.

@michelleshops I've heard a few people sing the praises of that Pretty Rebel palette, so I can totally understand why that would haunt you 😞

Ohhh, the blush is so sad.  I feel your pain of losing that 'perfect' shade!

Also, I was in Moscow at a huge makeup department, there was a silvery, glittery Givenchy tube of lipstick which was a orangey-red color (not really my thing) but the case was too gorgeous to pass up so I asked for it, paid for it.  I didn't even get out of the store when I looked in the box and it was just the regular Givenchy packaging.  

Anyway, they said no, they were out of the LE version and said Russian law prevents returns!  Still mad about that one... 😞

OH MAAANNNN @sister13!  That is so messed up! And I think I know which Givenchy lipstick you are talking about, too.  I wanted that case as well cuz it was stunning 😞

Great products that were discontinued, Lancome ageless mineral face powder which was a beautiful loose mineral powder foundation. Lancome rouge absolu lipstick in shade mauvette, a cool toned red with some metallic in it. Only red lipstick I have ever liked/worn 😞

The Givenchy confetti powder that was LE, and I discovered it too late to acquire one. 😞 It still haunts me. I think it is one of the most beautiful and unique compacts I have seen!

I could totally understand why this one would haunt you @angel7594 - I received one as a gift and they really are gorgeous.

Me too!  I was in Portugal last year and they had it on display and I thought they had it in stock, but no - it was a terrible tease!

Wow yes great idea!

For me it was the Chantecaille Sylvia's favourites palette. It was the 4 pan that had rose embossing. They were all taupey browns if I remember. I ordered it from Nordstrom when it was released and my order was cancelled. I tried everywhere to find another one. Never to be seen again 😞

Ohhh great idea for a thread @Mochapj 🙂  Could the blush be Coygirl?  That's the first that came to mind. It's discontinued and was around back in the day and popular.
