T3 Blower Dry Blew Up Twice

Posting this with disbelief that I bought a T3 blower dry 2 years ago and it blew up after about 1 1/2 years.  Literally popped and blew up.  Brought the first T3 blow dryer back to Sephora and they replaced it as they should when you pay $250 for a blow dryer!!  New blow dry owned about 1 1/2 years again and I can't believe it the same thing blew up to the point that my dog in the adjacent room starting barking.  This is crazy and totally unsafe!!!  What's even more frustrating is that Sephora wouldn't return it and instead rejected the return and had me talking to TRE Customer Service who does nothing for you other than tell you to send a written problem statement that needs to be sent in writing via US Postal Mail.  So disappointing and really mail in this day and age??? I'm on  a website buying products but instead I need to dispute a $250 blow dryer blowing up by calling a customer support line and then getting an email that tells me to send a written response.  Shame on you Sephora!!!! You should support your products and not make it tough on the consumer especially when T3 clearly is a faulty product.

Re: T3 Blower Dry Blew Up Twice

I had a T3 hair dryer.  It lasted about 6 months for me before it started making a weird rattling sound and stopped working.  Fortunately, I read the bad reviews online and I kept the box and receipt so I was able to return it to Sephora without a problem.

When the T3 worked, it was amazing.  Quiet, fast, light weight, and it made my hair shiny.  My cat, who hated blow dryers, would even let me use this one on him.  I think he even liked it between getting brushed and being blasted with warm air after a bath.

Sephora used to have a really good return policy.  Like REI/LL Bean level good.  I know this doesn't help now, but I'd suggest purchasing things in the future with your Amex!  Amex doubles the warranty on any item you buy, so if the T3 had a one year warranty, Amex will cover you 13-24 months after the purchase.

It is really unfortunate T3 products aren't built to last.

Re: T3 Blower Dry Blew Up Twice

Wow I didn't know Amex doubled the warranty, that's an awesome perk! Do you know if this would apply to apple products as well? For example standard 1 year warranty + purchased applecare (2 years added on warranty), would AMEX then cover warranty for 6 years on a laptop? @itscarin

Re: T3 Blower Dry Blew Up Twice

Oooo, thanks for sharing the tidbit about AMEX doubling warranty time frames! I had no idea!

Re: T3 Blower Dry Blew Up Twice

Hi, FunStuffMe!

The malfunction of a beauty tool is never fun, especially when that tool can cost a pretty penny. While no one expects to replace costly tools every year and a half to two years, Sephora's return policy does state a 60 day (from time of purchase) time frame. Returns are also subject to the discretion of Sephora, so unfortunately if the store you visited upon your second experience with a malfunctioning T3 blow dryer rejected the return, that's ultimately a decision the store itself decided to make.

I know the individual experience of owning a beauty tool can vary from person to person (I've known folks who have had T3 blow dryers for years with no issues, just like I've known folks who have had their Chi flat irons for ages with no hiccups while some others buy a Chi and within months it seems to not be functioning properly). In the future, I would highly recommend checking into whether or not a brand has their own specific warranty on beauty tools that you can register for as an added "insurance" measure in case you are unable to return or exchange the device at the original retailer of purchase. Just checking into the T3 brand, depending on the specific item in their line, they offer 12, 24, and 48 month coverage.

By chance have you tried reaching out to the Rouge hotline (1-855-Rouge-VIB)? While I can't personally guarantee you that Sephora will be resolving this matter to your liking, if you're still looking for any possibility of a return or exchange to Sephora, you may consider trying the Rouge line to see if they may offer up anything different from your previous experiences with customer service.
